Major Duties and Responsibilities: Senior Laboratory Engineer cum Teaching Assistant for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ECE) and Mechatronics and Sensor Systems Technology (MST)
Senior Laboratory Engineer (40%):
- Maintaining laboratory infrastructure, i.e. keeping lab equipment in good functional condition and up to date.
- Being responsible for repairs and spare parts - Developing the lab infrastructure further due to the changing needs of the course programs.
- Conducting market trends and research and show up with proposals to the respective academic coordinator for the enhancement of the lab facilities.
- Assisting VGU´s Procurement Unit in defining technical specifications for purchasing and tendering of laboratory equipment.
- Contacting industry (e.g. Pepperl & Fuchs, Festo, Texas Instruments) and organizing donations to the laboratories.
- Performing and supervising research for the academic staff of the Study Program Mechatronics and Sensor Systems Technology within industrial and basic research projects.
- Acquiring industrial projects and performing independent research for these projects.
Teaching Assistant (50%):
- Independently develop and give student exercises for various courses of the study program of MSST.
- Support in contacting industry to find places for internships, Bachelor and Master theses, and in Page 2 of 3 keeping this contact.
- Supervise students' that perform their Bachelor or Master thesis either in the laboratories of VGU or in industry
- Act as official second reviewer for Bachelor theses in the Study Program Electrical Engineering & Information Technology
- Taking care of laboratory-modules associated to lectures from the field of MSST with a scope of approx. 24 hours per week during the semester.
- Support in organizing courses and workshops with companies, e.g. Agilent Vietnam, National Instruments Vietnam.
- Being the contact person for students and VGU administration when the Academic Coordinator is off-site.
- Document relevant activities on an internet and intranet-based collaboration platform, e.g. VGU's web site. Other related tasks as assigned by Academic Coordinator and Dean of Faculty of Engineering.
Master degree in related disciplines
Good knowledge in related disciplines
Good in English both in written and orally.
Good manners of expression, good writing skills and organizational skills.
Good command in using MS Office Software.
Creative, initiative, can-do attitude.
Be able to work efficiently, independent and self-organized.
Experience in teaching support is preferable.
Experience in working with industry is preferable.
Committed to work on a long-term basis, careful, hard-working.
