Role Description

As a Senior Developer at Wispex, you are responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative IT solutions that contribute to the efficient and secure handling of customs processes. You work closely with other teams to ensure that our systems comply with legal requirements and meet the needs of Wispex.

On the one hand, you act as a software developer and builder of new software. At the same time, you serve as the application manager for internally developed software.

In this role, you report to the IT Development Manager.

Identifies and analyzes problems, developing solution strategies based on this analysis.
Perseveres when a solution is not immediately found.

Understands the broader impact of possible solutions on related processes.
Able to think "outside the box" and creatively explore possibilities and solutions.

- Result Orientation

Sets concrete goals for oneself and does everything possible to achieve them.
Establishes realistic goals and determines priorities.
Distinguishes between key and secondary issues during problem-solving.
Works methodically toward achieving objectives, planning necessary actions, time, and resources.
Keeps objectives in sight and stays on course.

Understands how different departmental processes interconnect and influence one another.
Understands the processes of chain partners (Customs, Tax Authority, clients) and foresees the impact of changes in the chain, providing targeted solutions for Wispex.
Looks beyond obvious solutions, reframes problems, and sheds new light on issues.
Thinks in solutions rather than problems, challenges conventions, and develops new and alternative ideas.

Tasks and Responsibilities

- Software Development

The Senior Developer develops software for internal use within Wispex. You analyze the desired application or “internal customer request” for feasibility. You translate organizational and user needs into software solutions, consult with team leads, propose possible solutions, and advise on the pros and cons of different options.

- Design and Implementation of Software Solutions

You translate the chosen solution into technical scenarios, identifying possibilities, limitations, and exceptions. You include this in a feasible project plan, then build, test, and optimize the software. Once development is complete and the software is ready for use, you collaborate with your IT colleagues on implementation and provide end-user instructions.

- Documentation of Software and Infrastructure

An important responsibility resulting from software development is documenting both the software and its infrastructure. This ensures that in your absence, colleagues can respond competently, quickly, and effectively in case of incidents.

- Application Management and Software Maintenance

You are responsible for the functionality, maintenance, updates, and continuity of the in-house software. This includes resolving technical and user issues, detecting and fixing bugs, and ensuring system uptime.

- System Security and Network Advisory

You are responsible for securing both incoming and outgoing data and processes. You advise management on necessary updates, modifications, or improvements to software and systems to ensure a well-functioning network. This requires close collaboration with the system administrator and IT Development Manager.

- Project-Based Problem Solving and Process Management

Using your knowledge, methods, and techniques, you solve complex and specific problems within defined projects. These are unique issues beyond routine operations without predefined solutions. You understand the interdependencies between processes and the impact of your actions on other users. You are also able to oversee, plan, and organize your own work.
