Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Desktop Application Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance desktop applications across Windows, macOS, and other supported operating systems. The ideal candidate has strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience with modern desktop application frameworks such as Tauri, Electron, or Wails. You will build reliable, secure, and scalable desktop applications, integrate frontend interfaces with backend services and native operating system capabilities, and deliver production-ready software.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain cross-platform desktop applications using Tauri, Electron, or Wails.
- Build user-friendly interfaces and ensure consistent functionality across supported operating systems.
- Optimize application performance, memory usage, startup time, and resource consumption.
- Implement application packaging, installation, updates, and distribution.
- Design scalable, secure, and maintainable desktop application architectures.
- Integrate desktop applications with REST APIs, backend services, databases, and third-party systems.
- Connect frontend components with native operating system functionality.
- Develop features such as file-system access, local storage, background processes, and system notifications where required.
- Apply security best practices to protect application data and prevent unauthorized access.
- Troubleshoot application crashes, performance bottlenecks, and cross-platform compatibility issues.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests.
- Manage application builds, code signing, installers, and release processes.
- Implement automatic updates and version management where required.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines for desktop application development and deployment.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver product requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and architectural discussions.
- Evaluate technologies, recommend engineering practices, and mentor junior developers when appropriate.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Hands-on experience developing and shipping desktop applications using at least one of these frameworks: Tauri, Electron, or Wails.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience with a modern frontend framework such as React, Vue, or a similar technology.
- Solid understanding of desktop application architecture and cross-platform development.
- Experience integrating applications with APIs and backend services.
- Familiarity with Git, debugging, testing, and software development best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.Rust experience, particularly for Tauri-based applications.
- Willing to work onsite in Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Candidates already domiciled in Yogyakarta are preferred.
