Job description for Senior/Assistant Head (Learning Technology) (Centre for Innovation in Learning) [NIE] at National Institute Of Education
- Assist Head/IN-Learning in setting the strategic directions for driving a pervasive, effective, innovative and transformational use of technology in Teaching and Learning.
- Assists Head/IN-Learning in strategising and managing budget allocation for the maintenance of ICT resources under the purview of IN-Learning.
- Work with Academic Groups, Learning Strategists, IT department and other cross-functional teams to develop tech-enabled learning solutions and blended learning.
- Collaborate with faculty in providing strategic advice to facilitate the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate technology for teaching, learning and assessment.
- Partner with other stakeholders to develop and implement transition strategy to roll out institute-wide initiatives.
- Lead Learning Technologists in assessing emerging technologies, identify and evaluate trends in educational uses of technology.
- Direct Learning Technologists in designing and developing learning solutions through a combination of multimedia, video-based resources and applications for Teaching and Learning.
- Guide Learning Technologists regarding Capability Development needs for faculty, learning strategies, blended learning design, and course requirements that impact NIE's strategic initiatives.
- Direct Learning Technologists provide end-user support for NIE's learning management system (Blackboard) and other adopted digital learning platforms.
- Exemplify a high level of motivation through meeting and working within established project budgets and timelines.
- Ensure successful internal and external cooperation in a variety of modes, including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, virtual meetings, and written communication.
- Lead and participate in and special projects on teaching and learning as required.
- Inspire, implement, and guide the use of digital tools to meet the needs of 21st century learners.
- A Master's Degree in Instructional Design or Education (Learning Sciences). A Doctoral Degree in Instructional Design/Learning Sciences or equivalent will be an advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with technology in an educational setting.
- Experience in leading a learning design and technology team, coaching and mentoring team members.
- Expertise in leveraging technology for teaching and learning.
- Good working knowledge in learning management systems, usability and functionality testing methods, as well as course and learner evaluation methodology.
- Demonstrate an excellent track record in adapting emerging technologies for teaching and learning.
- Strong project management skills with experience in all phases of the instructional design process
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, cognitive empathy, resiliency, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, well organised and able to work individually and as part of a dynamic team.
- Attentive to details and able to follow formal business practices.
- Analytical and possess good creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Pro-active leader and team player who can work with minimal supervision.
