Job description for Product Manager (Employee #1 at Game Sherpa) at Game Sherpa
Product Manager (aka Employee #1) Job Description
What is Game Sherpa?
Game Sherpa is an online marketplace for
- People who love to game but don’t have time to get everything, e.g. rare gear, cool cosmetics or special ranks. We have families and jobs and there’s just not enough time to grind...if only we could hire someone to help?
- “Sherpas” are those with the time and skill who for a fee can help you grind. Don’t we all want to play games for a living? Now you can with Game Sherpa.
Game Sherpa is a start-up looking to hire our first employee. One day, Game Sherpa will rule the universe. How cool would it be to say you were employee #1?
What You Would Do
TLDR? A bit of everything. But normally, these responsibilities:
- Work with our design and development agencies to improve the website and app. Talk to users to figure out what features to build next. Identify issues to fix.
- Help operate the marketplace through an easy-to-use admin console -- no programming background necessary. Tasks include approving Sherpa registrations, processing refunds, banning bad members, providing customer service, and so on.
- Develop and execute awareness-building activities. How do we get more customers and Sherpas on the platform? Let’s brainstorm ideas and get them done. For example, it might be hiring influencers. It might be organizing a tournament.
- Be a co-pilot in guiding the company’s future. As employee #1 you will have a big say in the company’s strategy, product roadmap, employee hiring and culture building.
- Assist the founder on getting his laundry, coffee...just kidding. The founder can do those on his own. The purpose of this bullet point is to say the job won’t be glamorous, there’s going to be a lot of hands-on work for both of us.
Compensation
$1,800 to $3,600 monthly, depending on your experience. We may hire two people, one entry level and another with more awesomeness.
This is a real company and a real job, so we will also pay CPF.
There won’t be an office for a while so this position is mostly work-from-home. There will be a lot of video conferencing and chat, supplemented by the occasional kopitiam meeting. This is a full-time job so normal working hours apply.
Note: Game Sherpa has not launched yet, the beta will be out by the end of September.
Requirements
Smarts, hard work and a good attitude.
University or polytechnic degree would be good.
Experience is a plus, e.g. from product management or digital marketing.
Internships will be considered if there is a good fit.
Must be Singaporean...because, government.
Love for gaming is massively preferred. If you think videogames are for losers then this job is not for you.
