Job description for Junior Legal Counsel, Maritime at CMA CGM
Summary:
CMA CGM is looking for a motivated and commercial minded maritime lawyer to join our team in Singapore.
Reporting to the Head of Maritime Legal, you will be working closely with the business stakeholders in reaching solutions which are compliant and meet the organization’s critical business objectives for the Asia Pacific region.
Main Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate a range of maritime-related agreements covering, customers, vendors, partners
- Advise on contentious matters including idle full management, detention and demurrage recovery and non-insured disputes
- Support day to date operations of the maritime business
- Assist on maritime legal work-streams in strategic projects, i.e. business development projects that include cargo transport related aspects
- Work with and manage external legal counsels
- Support and perform other duties assigned by the Head, Maritime Legal as well as the General Counsel, APAC as the case may be
To perform well in this role, you must possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate and work with a diverse group of people in the organization. We are looking for someone with strong work ethic and capability to managing multiple demands / timelines in a calm and professional manner.
Minimum Requirements:
- With a LLB Honors in Maritime Law from a reputable university
- Qualified as a solicitor and/or barrister in a Commonwealth jurisdiction
- Around 3 to 5 years PQE in a law firm and/or in-house setting, with a strong experience in practicing maritime law and a good commercial background.
- Strong work ethic
- Motivated, high energy
- Demonstration of strength in identification, explanation and resolution of legal issues
