Job description for Garden Manager at PT Global Camp
- Oversee and execute all permaculture landscape design.
- Oversee and execute the completion of secondary planting map according to the design. This includes : the common area, beach bungalows, cliff villa, and kitchen garden.
- Oversee and execute all maintenance of the gardens and nurseries and garden facilities.
- Make regular inspections to insure that all gardens are being properly maintained.
- Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop a garden master plan.
- Create work schedule for the garden teams.
- Supervise interns and maintenance crew assistance. Oversee work performed in the garden. Evaluate performance and recommend salaries and contract rates to the Executive Director.
- Develop and teach gardening programs for the teams and related parties.
- Consult with the office personnel on garden issues for rental purposes.
- Act as a liaison in the community for functions and programs.
- Maintain as-built drawings and operating records for all garden facilities. Update any changes to these.
- Prepare annual operating budget for gardens for review by the Executive Director
- Prepare monthly progress reports for Board meetings.
- Purchase all materials for greenhouse, garden maintenance, and plantings in the garden
- Provide information to related parties about garden and horticultural questions/problems.
- Develop annual and monthly maintenance plans for the gardens.
- Maintain and update plant database and identification signs throughout the property.
- Oversee and execute the implementation for the food forest and animal systems (the future projects)
- Degree or Certificate in Horticulture or Agriculture (AA or BS)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in organic garden management
- Excellent management and collaboration skills
- Experience in working with volunteers, propagation of plants, operating a greenhouse, understanding irrigation systems and garden equipment
- Physically fit to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Good knowledge of Permaculture
- Good knowledge of garden equipment including small engines, irrigation and pump equipment and vehicles
- Good communication and english skill
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, Board members and volunteers; all levels of a non-profit organization
- based in bali, but willing to work in remote area to handle garden projects for months.
- Ability to use a computer and generate basic repots, use a smart phone
- Preferable has worked in a hotel setting before
- Self-motivated
