Job description for Forward Deployed Software Engineer at impactnet
ABOUT IMPACTNET
impactnet is an early-stage tech-for-good startup, building software for Singapore’s social
sector.
Our two products, Empower (agentic volunteer management system) and Emplace (AI-powered
volunteer-charity matchmaking), serve charities, Social Service Agencies (SSAs), and community
organisations across Singapore.
We’re a small, fast-moving team. You’ll have real ownership over what you build, real users
depending on it, and direct access to the people making the decisions.
WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON
Empower is a volunteer management platform built for Singapore’s charity sector. We’re moving
toward a consultancy model: each charity client gets a purpose-built configuration of Empower
tailored to their workflows and pain points. Your job is to help us build that.
• Build and ship features across the Empower web platform
• Implement config-driven UI and feature flag systems that personalise the product per
charity client
• Work on Ines, our agentic AI assistant, including prompt engineering and RAG knowledge
pipelines
• Contribute to the full deployment lifecycle: from local dev to production
• Collaborate directly with the CTO on architecture decisions and product direction
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY GET OUT OF THIS
You’ll be writing real code, shipping to real users, and solving real problems for charities across
Singapore.
• Full-stack development experience from day one
• Hands-on AI/agentic development with tools like Claude Code and build on top of LLM-
powered workflows
• Real enterprise delivery of custom software to charity clients, including requirements
gathering, config-driven architecture, and iterative deployment
• A portfolio piece you can point to — live, in production, used by real organisations doing
meaningful work in Singapore’s social sector
• Direct collaboration from the CTO on architecture, product decisions, and startup
building
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
What matters most to us:
• You’re curious, creative, coachable, and you learn fast
• You’re comfortable (or actively getting comfortable) with TypeScript, React, or similar web
technologies
• You have some experience building something: a side project, a school project, a
hackathon, anything with real code
• You care about using technology to do something meaningful in the civic & social impact
space
Bonus to have:
• Experience with Next.js, Supabase, or Tailwind CSS
• Exposure to AI/LLM tooling or prompt engineering
• Any prior internship or freelance development work
You can expect to hear back from us in 2 business days.
