Job description for Ethics & Compliance Officer, APAC at CMA CGM
Summary:
You will be part of the Ethics & Compliance Function in charge of compliance and regulatory matters for CMA CGM Group’s business in the Asia Pacific region. Reporting to the Group Chief Compliance Officer APAC, you will be working on many topics related to competition law, ethics and business integrity, personal data protection, trade compliance (embargos, international sanctions, export control) as well as specific regulatory matters.

Your Main Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Deploying Compliance guidelines in APAC (45%)
- Develop and implement communication strategy and compliance training programs to educate employees and increase their awareness of the latest legal and ethical standards that apply to their jobs
- Advise on ethics & compliance matters in the Asian Pacific region, monitor compliance with ongoing, training and filing requirements;
- Handle internal queries on regulatory requirements and compliance policies and procedures;
- Provide relevant regulatory and compliance advisory support and disseminate any changes across the business.
- Support the management of the “Ethics Hotline” to ensure that employees view it as an effective tool for speaking up about potential compliance violations or for seeking guidance
- Actively promote CMA CGM Code of Conduct, related policies and procedures and new developments in law or regulation pertaining to compliance
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the compliance program by measuring and monitoring compliance activity and trends, participating or arranging for periodic compliance audits and collecting employee feedback on the program through surveys or other means
- Build CMA CGM’s Group external reputation relating to its commitment to a culture of compliance, maintain appropriate visibility and involvement in the region’s ethics and compliance community
Support businesses in ensuring compliance of new projects (45%)
- Manage ongoing regulatory filings, ad hoc regulatory requests and regulatory exams. This includes liaising with regulators and internal stakeholders, coordinating responses internally and ensuring responses are appropriate and timely;
- Maintain strong and productive relationships with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders, in particular to ensure consistent and appropriate representation of the business;
- Monitor regulatory development, conduct impact analysis and propose/take the required course of actions;
- Work closely together with other legal, risk, compliance and company colleagues to contribute and implement initiatives, share best practices and enable effective communication;
- Design and implement effective risk assessment methodologies and develop recommendations regarding control enhancements to mitigate risks
- Participate in compliance projects under the global compliance workplan and support delivery of the work plan in Asia Pacific and manage special projects as assigned;
Develop a professional Compliance Network in APAC (10%)
- Contribute to the development of the Group network of Ethics & Compliance referents in APAC through training, communication and other appropriate support.
- Prepare materials to provide compliance input at internal governance meetings;
- Work with and manage external counsel, as needed;
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in legal studies, business administration or relevant compliance-related discipline
- Mandatory knowledge and experience in Compliance (notably a focus onethics and business integrity (including fight against corruption) and personal data protection)
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in law firm or with in-house compliance function
- Excellent communicator, presenting to various stakeholders
- Shipping experience / knowledge is preferable, but not a must.
