Job Description
Our engineering team is entering our next phase of growth, and we are looking out for effective and people-centric engineering managers to join us on this phase shift.
The mission for this role is to build, groom, and lead a high-performing, deeply engaged, and consistently learning engineering team that serves the organization’s needs.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Coordinate and plan engineering roadmap, both strategically and tactically, with QA, product, data, operations and sales functions to maximise impact of the engineering team
- Hire, onboard and train engineering team to 30 engineers with a consistent recruitment process, great candidate experience, efficient onboarding process and effective engineering leaders grooming programs
- Introduce processes that improve and maintain engineering team and technical metrics in delivery lead times, change failure rates, cycle time, code coverage to our OKR levels
- Effectively engage and retain the engineering team
What We’re Looking For
- People Management: Genuinely cares about the team. Is effective at recruiting A players, grooming leaders and removing wrong hires. Has high standards and raises his team to that level. Sets priorities effectively. Can build a tight and high-performing culture.
- Writing Code: Respected within the company as a shining example of code quality. Upholds the coding quality of engineers across teams by exercising and propagating practices for pair programming, code review, mentoring, coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Testing: Understands company testing approach, and uses quality metrics to identify gaps. Works with all teams to recommend solutions that are in accordance with accepted testing frameworks and the testing pyramid. Drives company wide testing strategy.
- Debugging: Leads incident response across the engineering department as needed. Uses systematic debugging to diagnose issues across the company.
- Domain Expertise: Has deep expertise in across several technical domains, and frequently leverages on that on high-impact company projects or products. Frequently shares knowledge about these domains within the company, and even beyond, and is recognised as an industry expert in these areas.
- Software Architecture: Works across the company to foster a culture of architecture that allows for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling. Guides teams in the company in anticipation of future use cases and helps them make design decisions that minimize the cost of future changes.
- Security: Actively works with the security team to set and refine company wide security strategy. Fosters a security first mindset across the company. Can recognize obscure security threats that go unnoticed to others.
