Job description for Shipping Officer (Full-Time) at Sumitomo Corporation Asia & Oceania Pte. Ltd.
- Prepare sales, purchase, delivery invoices, custom clearance credit application, Letter of Credit (L/C) and import/export shipping documentation.
- Liaise/ coordinate with external parties* on insurance filing, claims and transport arrangements to ensure smooth and prompt delivery of goods, submission of supporting documents, payment to suppliers: incoming and outgoing shipment, delivery schedule, submission of Bill of Lading (B/L) for invoicing purposes etc.
- Provide and improve customer service through effective communication and problem resolution to support business activities; attend to customers’ enquiries on order status/details
- Monitor shipments closely to ensure order fulfilment, identify possible delays and communicate to relevant parties and follow-up on accounts receivable and payable.
- Monitor and maintain/process Traffic Service Operator (TSO) applications, Security Trade Control (STC) applications, credit control and ensure sales records are accurate and updated to support sales activities
- Undertake monthly closing of accounts and update market prices into an excel sheet
- Any other ad-hoc admin duties
- Education: minimum Diploma
- Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience
- Strong organisational skills, attention to details, excellent level of accuracy and self-starter with good learning mindset
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing environment
- Good oral, written communication skills and active listening skills.
- Able to work effectively independently with minimal supervision and with other team members
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures used in shipping will be advantageous (e.g. incoterms, contract administration, international trade administration, import/export documentation procedures, Letter of Credit)
- Knowledge in SAP (will be advantageous) or able to understand and learn new systems: required to use on a daily basis to generate documents and perform data entry
