Job Description: Business/Clinical Analyst
A Business/Clinical Analyst in HIS implementation plays a vital role in aligning hospital operations with technology. They analyse and document both clinical workflows, such as patient registration, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge, and administrative processes like billing, HR, inventory, and finance. By translating the needs of clinicians and business stakeholders into system requirements, they ensure HIS modules are validated against medical practices, integrate seamlessly with financial and reporting systems, and provide training and support to staff. Their work also emphasizes compliance with medical, regulatory, and operational standards, while delivering insights through data analysis and dashboards to enhance patient safety, decision-making, and overall hospital efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform product demo/ application walkthrough.
2. Perform business requirement study specific to non-clinical, clinical and clinical support services.
3. Facilitate business process re-engineering (BPR), business process alignment (BPA) and related activities.
4. Assist in project documentation such as Business Process Alignment (BPA), and the Business Requirement Document (BRD).
5. Function as a team member during project implementation
6. Perform system set-up and configuration - creation of users, clinical/nursing note types, forms, checklists and nursing charts.
7. Data management – Initiate data collection and assist clients during the process, involving activities, such as compilation, verification and loading (front end), if required.
8. Perform system testing on newly developed modules / functionalities
9. Develop user guides and training manuals.
10. Conduct master user and end-user training.
11. Prepare Functional Acceptance Test (FAT) and User Acceptance Test (UAT) scripts.
12. Perform Functional Acceptance Test (FAT) and facilitate User Acceptance Test (UAT).
13. Provide Go-live support and handholding of users during project implementation.
14. Monitor system performance and recommend improvements based on user feedback.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, Laboratory Science, Health Sciences, or any related healthcare field.
• 2–5 years of work experience in healthcare settings preferred.
• Strong understanding of hospital and clinic workflows and processes.
• Experience working with Hospital Information System (HIS), Patient Management System (PMS), Laboratory Information System (LIS), or other healthcare management systems.
• Ability to translate clinical needs into structured documentation (BRD, SRS, SOP).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Medical Officers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills (Preferred)
• Experience using Redmine or any project management and issue tracking tool.
• Knowledge of healthcare coding standards (ICD-10/11, CPT, SNOMED, ATC) is an added advantage.
