Singapore university students are welcome to apply. We've had interns from NTU, NUS, Singapore Polytechnic, and SMU in the past. Engineering students included.
Want to explore the world of broadcast and film, particularly the production side of things? This is a window to launch your career in this industry.
As an assistant producer (student intern), beyond just taking meeting minutes during production meetings, you will learn firsthand what gets a production going even before the first shot is fired.
You get some behind the scenes on working with major clients, including tech companies (even the big G of search engines, the big YT of video platforms, and the big A of shopping platforms).
Reporting to the Senior Producer, you will:
be involved in the entire production process
assist the producer in client communications and servicing
support the project by maintaining the budget spreadsheet
assist to create callsheets and schedules
do all it takes to bring the project from ideation to life
For Engineering Students:
Mediashock, a video production company in Singapore, constantly partners with companies that dominate the engineering industry. Some past and current clients include “the big G” search engine (particularly its Cloud service), Makino, and ST Engineering.
Often, the team brainstorms with these engineering industry clients to come up with effective marketing videos. That is why we are inviting engineering students to serve their internship in our company, enabling the student to observe firsthand how we deal with such clients.
Suggested Internship Outcome
By the end of the internship, the student may come up with an internship report that shares valuable insights such as the following (suggestions only):
The intern’s analysis on the current situational context behind an (engineering industry) client/s’ need for a marketing video and/or initiative. (What are today’s forefront/fundamental engineering-related issues and concerns behind the chosen client/s’ need for a marketing effort?)
Specific aspects (of such engineering-related issues and concerns) the intern can focus on can be any of the suggested following:
Environmental context (internal and external)
Innovation/technological context
Limitation of the study: note that the limitation of the study will probably tackle only within Mediashock’s scope of handling the marketing project; or Mediashock and the engineering company’s team effort in handling the marketing messaging; or other means in which the student functions as an intern in Mediashock. Still, the study limitation depends on the intern and the university’s initiative.
2. The intern’s participation in the marketing video project for the team to realize effective communication related to clients’ marketing objectives / concerns / current issues.
3. The intern’s personal experience in the field visit to the client’s site or event venue, especially while interviewing clients and filming scenes
4. The intern’s realizations in dealing with the clients, such as their expectations and standards
Please note that the intern must be proactive and is responsible for relaying his or her concerns with regards to fulfilling course requirements for his/her internship. Communicate often and as needed with the Mediashock supervisor so we can assist accordingly. This goes the same with the intern coordinating with his/her university adviser.
Students will get to appreciate the importance of mastering not only their technical competency but also their soft skills to approach real-world culture nuances in order to achieve the overall project goals. These happen while they observe clients and while they work as a team member.
