Job description for Assistant Librarian/Librarian [NIE] at National Institute Of Education
- Plan, implement and manage NIE Library’s digital scholarship initiatives such as digital exhibits, digital archives, and digital scholarship hub.
- Proactively source, support and develop partnerships with faculty and students on digital scholarship activities including planning of digital projects, presenting and publishing of completed projects.
- Identify, evaluate and implement appropriate tools and technologies to support digital scholarly activities. Provide consultation, training and workshops for librarians, researchers and students on the use of digital scholarship or digital library tools and technologies.
- Maintain, administer and enhance digital library and digital scholarship applications.
- Foster communication between the Library and designated Academic Groups.
- Participate in collection development, including identifying, evaluating and recommending library resources.
- Liaise with NIE community to recruit content for the NIE data and digital repository.
- Communicate, plan and deliver library events and promotional activities.
- Provide information desk services on scheduled evenings and weekends.
- Contribute to library projects, peer training and staff development.
- A University degree and a recognized postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science, preferably with a background in digital library and digital scholarship projects implementation. Fresh graduates without the professional qualifications are welcome to apply and may be appointed as Assistant Librarian.
- At least 1 year of professional working experience in an academic library or research setting, with exposure to digital library and/or digital scholarship initiatives.
- Knowledge and experience in research methodologies and computational platforms, including emerging issues and technologies.
- Familiarity with trends in digital scholarship, digital library applications, digital curation, and digital project management.
- Good interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with library colleagues, NIE and external communities.
