BRIEF DESCRIPTION

He or she will be responsible for overseeing sea freight procurement activities, including rate negotiations, carrier management, pricing strategies, and yield optimisation initiatives to drive business growth and enhance profitability. The role requires close collaboration with the Operations Team, Business Units, and stakeholders to develop effective routing and booking solutions, monitor market trends and seasonal fluctuations, and ensure service commitments for FCL and LCL businesses are consistently achieved.

JOB SCOPE

• Sea Freight Procurement: Negotiating buying rates to ensure business profitability.
• Optimising profitability by developing yield improvement solutions.
• Establishing pricing and procurement guidelines.
• Collaborating closely with the sea freight operations team to define and formalise booking instructions (Routing, Carrier, Schedule) according to customer constraints and yield management.
• Performing cross-functional collaboration (Business Units, internal customers, and pricing) to gather required information, including transport mode, price, and transit time, and providing solutions to operations.
• Monitoring price movements and seasonal fluctuations, and conducting market analysis for forecasting work.
• Designing solutions for new products/trade lanes by developing product strategies.
• Responsible for expanding service contracts and ensuring volume commitments are met.
• Taking ownership of FCL and LCL procurement practices in the Singapore office.
• Focus on growth of the FCL and LCL businesses.
• Carriers Management.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor’s degree requirement with min. 3 years of Sea Freight experience.
• Preferably experienced in a fast-paced and dynamic multicultural MNC environment, with relevant experience in the shipping line, freight forwarding, or logistics industry being essential.
• Good understanding of margin and yield management principles.
• Strong working relationships with carriers.
• Resourceful, results-oriented, and able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Highly motivated, proactive, and driven, with strong initiative and a results-oriented mindset.
• Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Meticulous and analytical, with the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Intermediate Access skill preferred.
• Fluency in both written and verbal communication skills (English).
