We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Executive to support and manage physical oil trading operations, mainly for Fuel Oil and Diesel cargoes.
The candidate should possess strong knowledge in bulk cargo execution, LC documentation, vessel chartering coordination, shipping operations, and handling complex/non-standard transactions.
This role requires close coordination with traders, suppliers, inspectors, terminals, shipowners, brokers, banks, and customers to ensure smooth execution of physical trades from contract stage to final settlement.
Key Responsibilities
Cargo Operations & Trade Execution
Handle end-to-end physical cargo operations for Fuel Oil, and other petroleum products
Execute trade contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms
Monitor cargo movement, loading/discharging schedules, and delivery timelines
Coordinate with traders, suppliers, customers, shipping agents, terminals, inspectors, and other counterparties to ensure smooth shipment execution.
Manage operational issues and provide timely solutions to minimize risks and delays
Shipping & Chartering Coordination
Liaise with shipowners, charterers, brokers, and agents on vessel nominations and operational matters
Monitor vessel schedules, port operations, NOR, laytime, demurrage, and voyage performance
Coordinate bunker requirements, cargo compatibility, and operational feasibility
Support freight calculations and shipping cost analysis
LC & Trade Documentation
Review and prepare shipping and trade documents (Commercial Invoice/ Bill of Lading/Cargo Manifest/ Certificate of Origin/ Certificate of Quantity/ Certificate of Quality and etc)
Coordinate with banks on LC issuance, negotiation, discrepancies, and document presentations
Ensure all documentation complies with contractual and banking requirements
Product Quality & Specifications
Review product specifications and quality parameters
Understand laboratory analysis, COQ, density, viscosity, sulphur content, flash point, and other oil product indicators
Coordinate with inspectors and laboratories on cargo testing and quality disputes
Monitor cargo blending or off-spec situations when required
Risk Control & Settlement
Monitor operational exposure and identify potential operational risks
Support settlement process including invoice verification, payment follow-up, and claims handling
Coordinate demurrage and operational claims with relevant parties
Maintain proper operational records and reporting
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, or related disciplines.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in physical oil trading operations
Strong experience in Fuel Oil cargo operations
Familiar with Incoterms, shipping practices, and trade finance processes
Experience handling LC transactions and banking documentation
Good understanding of vessel chartering and tanker operations
Able to interpret cargo specifications and quality certificates
Experience handling complex or non-standard trading structures is preferred
Strong communication and coordination skills
Able to work under pressure and manage multiple cargoes simultaneously
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Experience in trading houses, oil majors, bunker suppliers, or commodity trading companies preferred
