What the role is

The SPF Policing-Study Diploma Programme offers candidates with NITEC/ Higher NITEC certification an opportunity to pursue a sponsored Diploma while employed full-time with SPF as a Direct-Entry Sergeant and drawing a full salary. Time off will be given for officers to pursue their studies.

The mission of the Singapore Police Force is to prevent, deter and detect crime. We do this by working in partnership with the community to protect life and property, prevent crime and disorder, detect and apprehend offenders, and preserve a sense of security.

What you will be working on

The SPF Policing-Study Diploma Programme allows trainees to integrate academic studies with practical work experience. Trainees can look forward to four workdays and one day of in-person classes each week, ultimately graduating with a “Diploma in Policing & Security Management” from Temasek Polytechnic. Trainees will study a range of subjects over the course of the 2.5 year SPF Policing-Study Diploma Programme, which include Criminal Law in Practice, Security Operations & Administration, Cybersecurity Fundamentals, Psychology & Law Enforcement etc.

Sergeant Police Officers are expected to perform difficult and demanding tasks. They must be tenacious, tough and yet thoughtful at the same time. Good interpersonal skills are needed as Police Officers meet people from all levels of society everyday. The SPF offers many unique rewards, challenges and opportunities to officers. Whether be it the excitement of conducting criminal investigation, fighting gangsterism, detecting computer fraud or community policing - the job scope and challenges in the various Police units/departments are endless.

NITEC Certification with a minimum GPA score of 2.0; or any Higher NITEC Certification
