JOB DESCRIPTION
The Head of Secondary at Nexus is an innovative leader who empowers teams through the elements of The Nexus Way. They have responsibility for the pedagogical, strategic and operational leadership of the secondary school. The Head of Secondary School works with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) including the Principal, Head of Primary, Head of Operations and four Deputy Heads of School. As part of the SLT, the Head of Secondary is an effective communicator and works collaboratively with all members of the community.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leading teaching and learning across the secondary school
Leading on curriculum development across the secondary school
Contributing to whole school strategic planning
Managing budgets and resources across the secondary school
Recruiting of Nexus teachers and school leaders
Leading on professional learning
Monitoring, tracking and reporting of academic progress, internal and external examination results
Leading on external accreditations including EduTrust, IB and COIS.
Responsibility for Secondary School admissions
Working collaboratively on Vertical Alignment with the Primary School
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
A relevant degree plus teaching qualification (or equivalent)
Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)
Coaching accreditation (preferred)
Evidence of continued relevant professional development
Experience in an international school environment (preferred)
Experience in a Secondary School leadership role
Experience with an inclusive approach to learning and working with diverse needs
Relevant curriculum experience, including CAIE, EdExcel and IBDP assessment practices
Involvement in key whole school events and activities
