Role Description The Sous Chef is a full-time, on-site role based at Azura Uluwatu in Bali, Indonesia. This role supports the Head Chef in leading daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and quality control for all menus. The Sous Chef helps develop and refine recipes, ensures consistent presentation, and maintains high standards of food safety and hygiene. Responsibilities include supervising kitchen team members, organizing workstations, managing inventory and ordering, and coordinating with front-of-house staff to deliver a seamless guest dining experience. The Sous Chef will also assist with menu planning, training junior cooks, and contributing creative ideas that align with Azura’s luxury and wellness-focused brand.
Qualifications
- Strong culinary skills, including expertise in modern and traditional cooking techniques and high-end restaurant plating.
- Experience in kitchen leadership, team supervision, and collaboration with cross-functional hospitality teams.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and best practices for kitchen cleanliness and organization.
- Ability to manage inventory, support ordering processes, and assist in cost control and waste reduction.
- Background in luxury or boutique hotel, resort, or fine dining environments is highly beneficial.
- Formal culinary training or relevant certification preferred, with proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays, and maintain composure in a fast-paced setting.
