Job title: Software Engineer – Business Applications (Python/Odoo)
Location: Jakarta | Type: Contract | Experience: 3+ years
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field (equivalent practical experience may be considered)
About the role
Design, develop, customize, integrate and maintain the company’s business applications, with Odoo Community as the planned core platform. The primary responsibility is to build maintainable Odoo modules and business workflows using Python, following good practices in database design, API integration, software testing, application security and deployment. You will work with business stakeholders and the development team to deliver secure, reliable applications. Go may be used for supporting services or integrations when there is a clear project need.
Responsibilities
- Develop and customize Odoo Community modules (models, business logic, views, workflows, access controls, reports)
- Understand business requirements, map workflows and identify fit with standard Odoo capabilities
- Write readable, reusable, secure and testable Python code; troubleshoot defects and improve performance
- Integrate Odoo with internal applications, messaging platforms and third-party systems via APIs
- Maintain PostgreSQL data models, troubleshoot queries, support data migration and protect data integrity
- Create and run unit, integration and regression tests; support UAT
- Support deployment, releases, backups, monitoring and Odoo version upgrades with IT Operations
- Implement access rights, record rules, role-based permissions and secure API practices
- Maintain technical documentation and collaborate with the Business Application Lead, QA, Delivery team, IT Operations and business users
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of software development experience with strong Python
- Hands-on Odoo Community module development is preferred; strong Python developers who can learn Odoo quickly are also welcome
- Strong OOP, debugging and software design fundamentals
- Experience with business workflows, approval processes and role-based access control
- Knowledge of Odoo ORM, models, fields, access rights, record rules, XML views, actions and QWeb reports
- PostgreSQL, SQL and relational database design
- REST APIs and system integration
- Git, code review, automated testing and technical documentation
- Linux deployment and application operations
Nice to have
- Docker, CI/CD and self-hosted deployment
- Basic Go (Golang), microservices or backend integration services
- ERP, CRM, HRIS, finance, inventory or workflow system experience
- Odoo module migration, upgrades and performance troubleshooting
- Exposure to reporting, ETL/ELT or BI tools (Metabase, Superset, etc.)
