About Willis Lau:
Willis has been in the financial planning profession since 2009, but his journey was never built on taking the conventional path.
Early in his career, he experienced the realities of traditional prospecting; cold calls, roadshows, door knocking, and approaching strangers. While these experiences built resilience and confidence, they also led him to question whether success had to rely on pressure, scripts, and constant chasing.
Over time, he developed a different philosophy: meaningful relationships are built through trust, value, and genuine human connection. Rather than relying on hard-selling approaches, Willis believes in creating frameworks and systems that help people engage naturally, build authentic relationships, and attract opportunities with greater intention.
That belief eventually shaped both his career and his identity:
To lead with education, create genuine value, and serve with class.
Rather than relying purely on traditional approaches, Willis embraced digital platforms early, built communities through education, and focused on creating value before seeking business opportunities. He believes meaningful relationships are built through shared values long before they are built through transactions.
As a CFP® professional with over a decade of experience, Willis combines financial planning expertise with insights into human behavior, communication, content creation, and modern engagement strategies. He has been featured on national radio, recognized as a finalist at the 2019 Asia Trusted Life Agents & Advisers Awards, and built an audience reaching millions through educational content. In 2025, he received the Trusted Financial Practitioner TrFP® Award; exceptional dedication to the financial planning profession, maintaining the highest standards of ethics, professionalism & client care.
Outside personal finance, Willis believes growth should never stop. In his late thirties, he challenged himself to learn Japanese from scratch; a pursuit that unexpectedly evolved into content creation of its own and a growing community around shared interests. The experience reinforced a belief he carries into both life and business:
It's not about who you were before, it's about who you can become after.
Today, beyond helping individuals and families build stronger financial futures, Willis is also passionate about mentoring and developing the next generation of advisers and professionals who want to build differently. He is always open to connecting with people who are curious, growth-oriented, and aligned with creating impact through education, value, and long-term thinking.

This includes content cuts, captions, SFX/VFX, pacing, and final delivery.
You may only be doing content cuts and helping to manage the rest of the edits done by offshore editors. However, its good to still know the basics
COMPETENCIES & VALUES
What we're looking for
▸ Connection with our content — You understand the space. You've watched our content and it resonates with you. You get the energy, the directness, the mission.
▸ Editing competency — You have prior experience editing short-form video. CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci — the tool doesn't matter. The output does. You should be comfortable with pacing, transitions, text overlays, SFX, and caption styling.
▸ Self-starter mentality — We move fast. You'll have autonomy and creative freedom — but that means you also need to take initiative, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively.
▸ Coachability — We'll give you direct, specific feedback. That's how we work. If you're someone who takes feedback personally rather than professionally, this isn't the right fit.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
We've seen many applicants with impressive resumes who cannot actually edit short-form video to our standard. Aesthetic captioning, pacing, and storytelling through edits require a real foundation — not just familiarity with tools.
You must be able to replicate or demonstrate confidence in reaching the current standard of editing on our channel. Will send you reference links.
DETAILS OF INTERNSHIP
▸ Duration: 3–6 months
▸ Location: Work from home + on-site shoots (included in total working time)
▸ Part-time: ~20 hours/week
▸ Compensation: Base salary with commission on hitting social media growth KPIs. To be discussed.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
This isn't a typical internship. Here's what you actually get:
▸ Direct mentorship from someone who's built multiple content brands from zero — not a middle manager handing you busywork.
▸ A portfolio of real, published content across multiple formats — not spec work that never sees the light of day.
▸ High autonomy and creative freedom. We trust our people. You'll have room to experiment and own your output.
▸ Exposure to the full content-to-conversion pipeline — not just editing, but how content drives leads, sales, and business growth.
▸ Incentives tied to social media growth KPIs — when the content performs, you benefit directly.
▸ An open, respectful partnership. We're direct but never disrespectful. We want you to grow — that's the point.
HOW TO APPLY
If you've read this far and it resonates — here's how to apply:

Send the following:
▸ A brief cover letter — who you are, why this role, and what excites you about Radical Kindness/Edge. ▸ Your resume (keep it simple).
▸ Examples of past editing work — links to published content, a portfolio, or a sample reel.
