Position Overview
We are looking for a hands-on, execution-driven Payment Commercial Lead to build our payment and banking network from scratch in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. This is a "player-manager" role for a seasoned practitioner who has personally negotiated bank rails, optimized pay-in/pay-out routes, and designed cross-border fund flows.
The ideal candidate is a high-performing BD/Partnerships Director or Senior Manager from leading PSPs, E-wallets, or payment gateways (e.g., Xendit, Midtrans, DOKU, GoPay, DANA, Nium, Airwallex) who possesses direct relationships with local banks and PSP clearing teams, and is ready to take full ownership of launching and scaling our payment channels.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-on Channel Acquisition & Bank BD:
Personally spearhead negotiations with Indonesian commercial banks (BCA, Mandiri, BRI, BNI, CIMB), acquirers, and local PSPs to secure direct API connectivity, low transaction fees, and high approval rates.
Establish Pay-in and Pay-out pipelines covering Virtual Accounts (VA), QRIS, E-wallets, Cards, and OTC cash networks.
Cross-Border Fund Flow & FX Execution:
Design, map, and implement compliant local and cross-border fund flow architectures (Payin and Payout Services and Cross-Border Capital Flow Trends).
Work closely with banking partners to optimize FX margins, settlement speed, and foreign currency conversion mechanisms.
On-the-Ground Problem Solving & Operations:
Act as the primary point of contact to resolve channel downtime, transaction bottlenecks, bank API integration delays, and settlement reconciliations.
Monitor Bank Indonesia (BI) and OJK daily compliance requirements to ensure fast and risk-free channel operations (AML/KYC).
Network & Resource Referral:
Bring immediate, usable network contacts within bank acquiring departments and regulatory bodies to fast-track business onboarding.
Recruit and mentor a lean team of local BD and operations specialists as volume grows.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: 6–10 years of hands-on commercial BD or payment partnerships experience in Indonesia's fintech/payment sector, with at least 3+ years managing payment channels or bank acquiring.
Proven Track Record: Direct, verifiable experience personally closing commercial deals with top local banks, payment gateways, or international cross-border payment providers.
Technical & Product Depth: Deep understanding of local payment rails (BI-FAST, SNAP API standards, QRIS settlement rules) and cross-border clearing mechanisms.
Execution Mindset: Comfortable working in an early-stage, fast-paced environment; willing to handle both high-level partner meetings and granular operational/contract details.
