Deskripsi pekerjaan Senior MS Access & SQL Server Developer (Freelance / Remote) 3WDive Gili Air
Job Title: Senior MS Access & SQL Server Developer (Freelance / Long-Term, As-Needed)
Location: Indonesia (Remote – open to candidates anywhere in the country)
Language Requirement: Fluent Professional English (Written and Spoken)
Project Scale: Enterprise-level Hybrid Database (100+ Forms, 100+ SQL Server Objects)
IMPORTANT: Nature of Work & Compensation
- Project-Based / As-Needed: This is not a full-time or monthly salaried job. There will be initial work for the first few months (onboarding + backlog). Afterward, work will be ad-hoc. There may be months with high activity and months with zero requests.
- Payment Structure: Compensation will be negotiated based on an hourly rate or per-feature budget directly with management. The monthly salary listed by Glints is purely for system requirements.
About the Role
We are seeking a senior full stack developer to take over the long-term evolutionary maintenance and module development of a mature, business-critical application. This is a freelance, project-based role with highly flexible, as-needed hours.
The current system developer is preparing a phased exit and will personally handle the initial 1-on-1 onboarding process. We are looking for a long-term technical partner who can understand the existing architecture and be available down the line to modify features or build new sub-modules as our company grows.
Technical Stack & Architecture
- Front-End: Microsoft Access (100+ Forms/Subforms, 20+ Reports, 10+ core VBA modules). Deployed locally on user laptops.
- Back-End: Microsoft SQL Server (100+ native SQL objects including complex Stored Procedures, Triggers, Views, and Functions).
- Network Environment: Local LAN setup. The SQL Server is hosted on an on-premise physical server.
- Current State: The system is functionally robust and stable. SQL procedures are documented, but the VBA codebase is lightly commented.
Phased Onboarding & Scope of Work
- Phase 1 (Discovery & Vetting): Following an initial 1-hour architectural briefing in English with the current developer, you will be assigned a short, paid code-review task (5–10 hours) to analyze a specific submodule and add architectural comments.
- Phase 2 (Structured Onboarding): conducted entirely in English
- Step 1: A 2-3 hour system-level overview to map out the core table relationships, connection methods, and coding standards.
- Step 2: Daily onboarding focused on a different module each day following this structure:
- Focused, modular deep-dive session (1.5 to 2 hours per module) covering specific business logic, forms, and corresponding SQL objects.
- An immediate, paid hands-on task (e.g., adding documentation or small enhancements) on that specific module to internalize the logic before moving to the next section.
- Phase 3 (Ongoing Support): Ad-hoc, task-based freelance development of new modules and feature modifications as requested by company management.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience managing large-scale MS Access front-ends linked to SQL Server back-ends over a LAN set-up.
- Deep mastery of T-SQL, including writing and debugging complex Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, and Views.
- Advanced VBA Skills. Deep proficiency in writing structured, modern VBA code for new feature modules, combined with the analytical ability to reverse-engineer and optimize existing legacy code.
- Strong communication skills; ability to clarify business requirements directly with English-speaking company management.
- Located in Indonesia (WIB/WITA time zones preferred).
How to Apply
Please submit your resume/portfolio highlighting your experience with linked table performance optimization, executing T-SQL commands dynamically via VBA, and managing SQL Server data integrity (Triggers/Stored Procedures).
