Job Summary:**
The nurse provides patient care in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics The nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans. They work closely with physicians, other healthcare professionals, and patients' families to ensure comprehensive care.
### **Key Responsibilities:**
- **Patient Care:**
- Assess patients' health conditions and needs.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and symptoms, documenting changes.
- Assist in diagnostic tests, procedures, and interpreting results.
- Provide wound care, catheter care, and other nursing procedures.
- Educate patients and their families on managing illnesses or injuries and post-discharge care.
- **Collaboration:**
- Work with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare staff.
- Participate in case conferences and patient care meetings.
- **Documentation:**
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patients' medical histories and ongoing care.
- Ensure documentation complies with healthcare regulations and policies.
- **Patient Advocacy:**
- Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences in the healthcare setting.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and ethical care practices.
- **Quality Assurance:**
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to infection control standards and safety guidelines.
- Report any issues or concerns regarding patient care to supervisors.
- **Professional Development:**
- Stay updated with the latest nursing practices, treatments, and protocols.
- Attend ongoing education and training sessions as required.
- Maintain licensure and certifications in accordance with state and professional guidelines.
### **Qualifications:**
- **Education:**
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- **Experience:**
- More than 2 years of nursing experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., hospital, clinic, etc.).
- **Skills:**
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of nursing procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
- **Certifications:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or other relevant certifications preferred.
### **Working Conditions:**
- Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Standing for long periods and lifting patients or equipment.
