The Business Unit Owner is fully accountable for the strategy, financial performance, operations, and growth of a dedicated business unit.
Strategic Responsibilities
Define the strategy, objectives, growth targets and roadmap for the business unit
Ensure alignment between the business unit and the company’s overall strategy
Make strategic decisions related to product, pricing, and market positioning
Financial Ownership (P&L Responsibility)
- Own full Profit & Loss (P&L) for the business unit
- Optimize unit economics and cost efficiency
- Monitor and report on:
Revenue performance
Gross margin
CAC, LTV
Product & Offering Development
- Define and refine the value proposition of the business unit
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, Technology, and Content teams
- Drive development of:
New products or services
Bundled offerings
Upsell and cross-sell programs
Operations & Delivery
- Ensure efficient, scalable, and high-quality business operations
- Identify and mitigate operational risks
- Maintain delivery excellence and customer satisfaction
- Establish and monitor:
Operational KPIs
SOPs
Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Sales, Marketing & Growth
- Define the go-to-market strategy
- Oversee sales and marketing performance across the funnel
- Approve pricing strategies, promotions, and strategic discounts
- Build and manage strategic partnerships
- Monitor Lead conversion, Customer acquisition, Retention and lifetime value
People Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams within the business unit
- Define team structure, roles, and hiring needs
- Set clear KPIs and performance expectations
- Coach team members and manage performance
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations
- Report business unit performance to:
CEO
Board of Directors
Investors (as required)
