Job Brief:

Our client is seeking a proactive and technically capable Sales Engineer to join their team in Balikpapan. This role is responsible for driving sales growth by developing strong customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, and providing consultative technical solutions to clients across industries such as mining, palm oil, heavy equipment, and oil & gas. The ideal candidate should possess strong B2B sales capabilities combined with good technical understanding of mechanical or industrial products. This position requires someone who is target-driven, outgoing, commercially minded, and capable of becoming a trusted advisor for customers while maintaining long-term partnerships in a competitive industrial market.

Job Description:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers within mining, palm oil, heavy equipment, manufacturing, and oil & gas industries
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market coverage and increase sales revenue in Balikpapan and surrounding Kalimantan areas
  • Promote and sell industrial products, bearings, mechanical components, and spare parts solutions through a consultative sales approach
  • Conduct regular customer visits to understand operational requirements and provide suitable technical recommendations based on customer needs
  • Explain product specifications, technical features, and service solutions clearly to customers
  • Handle technical inquiries and resolve customer concerns related to products and applications
  • Conduct product demonstrations and provide technical support during customer discussions or project implementations
  • Prepare quotations, commercial proposals, presentations, and sales reports in a timely and professional manner
  • Coordinate closely with internal operational and technical teams to ensure smooth order processing and customer satisfaction
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and business agreements while maintaining company profitability targets
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer demands to support business development strategies
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline records and regularly update customer activities for management reporting
  • Achieve individual sales targets and contribute to overall branch business growth
  • Build and maintain long-term partnerships with customers by ensuring strong after-sales support and service excellence

Job Requirement:

  • Minimum Diploma (D3) or Bachelor’s degree (S1), preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical fields
  • Maximum 35 years old
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial sales, heavy equipment spare parts, bearings, or mechanical product sales, preferably within a B2B environment
  • Strong exposure to industries such as mining, palm oil, heavy equipment, manufacturing, or oil & gas will be highly preferred
  • Good understanding of mechanical products and industrial applications
  • Having an established customer network and market knowledge in Balikpapan and Kalimantan area will be a strong advantage
  • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Able to combine commercial sales capabilities with technical consultation and problem-solving approach
  • Target-oriented, proactive, outgoing, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Stable career background with strong commitment and professional work ethic
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and sales reporting
  • English proficiency is preferred; Mandarin capability will be considered an advantage
  • Preferably domiciled in Balikpapan or willing to relocate/work onsite in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan
