FAQ:
Q: How is a product manager different to a project manager?
A: Product managers are expected to be more involved in setting the direction of the products, defining business requirements for our clients and weighing in on judgement calls for strategic decisions such as design, SOPs and tech infrastructure. Here in Zero One Technology, we prefer working in leaner, self-organising teams, so there is less emphasis on formal project management processes (such as PRINCE2/PMBOK) and more on getting things done (and no, not the course/certification).
Q: How is a product manager different to a product owner?
A: The two roles are very similar. In Zero One Technology, we would like to emphasise that we work on client projects, and the lifetime of a product is tied to the project timeline. A product owner in a typical SaaS company may work on one product for years, whereas the cycle may be shorter for product managers. It does mean that you’ll get to see a lot of projects across many domains!
Q: Is this a remote position?
A: It's hybrid! Apart from the occassional need to meet clients, we see the value of in-person hangouts/discussions at the office as it fosters focus and good working relations with colleagues. When in-person, we tend to meet on Thursdays for lunch. Ask us about or hybrid philosophy!"
