About the role
As a Product Development Designer, you will be involved in developing new physical products from the initial concept through sampling and production. You will work with existing characters and visual identities while also exploring new product concepts, collections, and product categories. This is a hands-on role involving concept development, sketching, product visualization, specifications, sampling, revisions, and communication with manufacturers.
Key responsibilities
Develop concepts for plush, toys, accessories, apparel, stationery, gifts, collectibles, and other consumer products
Translate characters and visual concepts into physical products
Create sketches, product renderings, colorways, variations, and design concepts
Develop seasonal, themed, and product collections
Create product specification sheets, production artwork, and design documentation
Prepare clear measurements, materials, colors, construction details, and instructions for manufacturers
Communicate with manufacturers and suppliers during the product development process
Review prototypes and production samples
Provide clear and detailed revision feedback to manufacturers
Work through multiple rounds of sampling until products are production-ready
About you
2+ years of experience in product design, industrial design, toy design, character design, illustration, product development, or a related field
Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and/or physical product design
Strong drawing, sketching, and visualization skills
Strong understanding of color, proportion, materials, and product aesthetics
Good understanding of how creative concepts translate into physical products
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Ability to create clear and detailed design specifications
Strong attention to detail
Good communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
