Position Summary
The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for developing students’ physical skills, fitness, and healthy lifestyle habits through structured physical education programs. The role includes planning and delivering engaging PE lessons, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, and ensuring safe participation in physical activities.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction
- Plan, prepare, and deliver PE lessons according to the curriculum and student grade levels.
- Introduce a variety of physical activities, games, and sports suitable for different age groups.
- Teach fundamental movement skills, fitness development, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Provide instruction in teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Student Assessment and Development
- Assess students’ physical abilities, fitness levels, and progress.
- Encourage students to set goals for improvement and celebrate their achievements.
- Support students with varying physical abilities and adapt activities to meet their needs.
Sports and Extracurricular Activities
- Organize school sports events, competitions, and tournaments.
- Coach and mentor students in extracurricular sports activities.
- Promote participation in physical activities beyond the classroom.
Classroom and Equipment Management
- Ensure all PE equipment is maintained, safe, and ready for use.
- Manage the use of facilities (e.g., gym, playground, sports fields) responsibly.
- Enforce rules and safety measures during all physical activities.
Health, Safety, and Well-being
- Supervise students to ensure safety during physical activities and sports events.
- Provide first aid when necessary and follow school safety protocols.
- Promote healthy habits, including proper nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle choices.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work with other teachers and school staff to integrate physical education into overall student development.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and participation.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school community events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field.
- Teaching certification in Physical Education (preferred).
- Previous experience as a PE Teacher or Sports Coach.
- Strong knowledge of fitness training, sports rules, and physical development in children.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and supportive environment for students of all abilities.
- First Aid or CPR certification (preferred).
