MERCHANDISER (MD) KNIT / MD MATERIAL

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Merchandiser (MD) Knit / MD Material to manage the sourcing, development, purchasing, and availability of knit fabrics and garment materials. This position will work closely with suppliers, product development, production, and other related teams to ensure materials meet the required quality, cost, specification, and delivery timeline.
Responsibilities
- Source and develop knit fabrics and garment materials based on product requirements and company standards.
- Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with fabric and material suppliers.
- Coordinate material development, including fabric selection, sample development, color, specification, and quality requirements.
- Request and compare supplier quotations, negotiate price, MOQ, lead time, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.
- Prepare and monitor material purchasing and order processes.
- Follow up material orders with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery according to production requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams regarding material quality issues, discrepancies, and corrective actions.
- Monitor fabric/material availability and ensure materials are ready according to the production schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of supplier information, material specifications, costing, purchase orders, and delivery status.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluation based on quality, price, responsiveness, and delivery performance.
- Support cost efficiency initiatives and identify opportunities for material cost optimization.
- Ensure all materials comply with company specifications and applicable quality standards.
- Prepare regular reports related to material development, purchasing status, supplier performance, and delivery progress.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as MD, Merchandiser, Material Buyer, Fabric Buyer, or similar position in the garment/textile industry.
- Strong understanding of knit fabric, garment materials, fabric construction, specifications, and quality standards.
- Experienced in fabric/material sourcing, supplier negotiation, costing, and purchasing.
- Have a strong network or experience working with fabric and material suppliers.
- Good understanding of garment production flow and material requirements.
- Strong negotiation, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and able to work with deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Able to communicate effectively in English is an advantage.
- Willing to be placed in Bandung.
