Role Description
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the fabrication of the mechanical structure and enclosure of the Weather Radar System. This role focuses on ensuring the radar casing, rotary mechanism integration, portability, durability, thermal considerations, and overall manufacturability of the prototype system.
The engineer will work closely with the Electrical Engineer, Antenna Engineer, and Software Engineer during the design, manufacturing, integration, and testing phases of the Weather Radar System.
Key Responsibilities
Review the physical specifications of existing Radar Rotary Mechanics components.
Define mechanical design requirements (size, layout, access points, durability).
Create 3D product designs using CAD software and conduct feasibility studies for manufacturability.
Select manufacturing materials and coordinate casing fabrication
Assemble all physical components (antenna, hardware and power unit) into the prototype.
Collaborate in system integration to ensure all hardware fits and functions properly.
Contribute to performance testing by ensuring mechanical stability and accessibility.
Prepare technical documentation for mechanical drawings and assembly procedures, and final report.
Requirements
Fresh graduate from relevant majors (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields), with minimum 1 year of experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in 3D modeling (SketchUp, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360).
Experience in prototyping, 3D printing, and mechanical assembly.
Knowledge of materials and mechanical tolerances for handheld devices.
Understanding of product ergonomics and thermal management.
Tools: SketchUp, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Cura/Simplify3D (for 3D printing).
Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, good coordination with cross-functional teams, documentation skills.
