Job Desc
● Write and test Python tools that agents call — input validation, error handling, timeouts, retries.
● Assemble agents with the Strands Agents SDK: system prompts, tool registration, session and conversation state.
● Wire agents to model providers (Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic, OpenAI) through the SDK's provider interfaces.
● Expose agents as HTTP services (FastAPI) and package them for Lambda, Fargate or ECS deployment.
● Instrument runs with tracing and cost/latency metrics, and triage failures from those traces.
● Build small evaluation sets and regression tests for prompt and tool changes.
● Write unit and integration tests, respond to code review, and keep a service's README current.
● Handle data prep tasks with pandas: cleaning, joining, and loading documents into a vector store
Requirement
1. 1–2 years of professional Python (3.10+), writing code that other people ran in production.
2. Type hints, virtual environments and dependency management (uv, Poetry or pip-tools); can read a stack trace and debug without print-only debugging.
3. Asynchronous Python at a working level: async/await, asyncio.gather, and why a blocking call inside an async handler is a problem.
4. REST API work with FastAPI or Flask — request models, status codes, authentication headers, JSON serialisation.
5. Consuming third-party HTTP APIs: pagination, rate limits, retries with backoff, secrets kept out of source.
6. Testing with pytest: fixtures, mocking an external call, and writing a test before a bug fix.
7. Git in a team: branches, pull requests, resolving a conflict, meaningful commit messages.
8. Basic Docker and Linux command line; can containerise a service and read container logs.
9. Working English for reading documentation and writing pull request descriptions.
Formal computer science education is not required. A portfolio of real, running Python work substitutes for a degree.
