The Finance Controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of the company’s financial information. This role will oversee accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, cash-flow monitoring, internal controls, and audit readiness across the head office and outlet operations.
The Finance Controller will also help establish strong financial processes and governance as the company expands its gold retail and related services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting and Closing
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure transactions are properly recorded and supported by complete documentation.
- Perform balance-sheet reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
- Monitor the accuracy of revenue, cost of sales, inventory, operating expenses, assets, and liabilities.
2. Budgeting and Financial Analysis
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and explain material variances.
- Prepare financial analysis and recommendations for management.
- Monitor outlet profitability, operating costs, margins, and financial performance.
3. Cash Flow and Treasury Control
- Monitor daily cash positions and short-term cash-flow projections.
- Review bank, payment gateway, outlet, and settlement reconciliations.
- Ensure payments follow the company’s approval matrix and supporting-document requirements.
- Monitor receivables, payables, advances, reimbursements, and outstanding settlements.
4. Internal Control and Governance
- Develop and maintain finance and accounting policies, SOPs, and internal controls.
- Ensure proper segregation of duties for transaction initiation, approval, payment, recording, and reconciliation.
- Review financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Support the implementation and improvement of accounting and financial systems.
5. Inventory and Outlet Control
- Monitor the financial recording and reconciliation of gold inventory across outlets.
- Coordinate regular inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure outlet transactions and daily settlements are accurately reconciled with the accounting system.
- Review controls related to cash, gold stock, buyback transactions, customer deposits, and other outlet activities.
6. Audit, Tax, and Compliance
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, and other relevant parties.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documents required for financial and tax audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Follow up on audit findings and ensure agreed corrective actions are implemented.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit, financial control, or a similar role.
- Experience in a public accounting firm is strongly preferred.
- Big Four experience—PwC, EY, Deloitte, or KPMG—is an advantage.
- Good understanding of financial statements, budgeting, cash flow, internal control, and audit processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with accounting or ERP systems.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Able to work hands-on in a growing and fast-moving organization.
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- CPA, CA, or other relevant professional certification is an advantage.
- Experience in retail, multi-outlet operations, precious metals, or inventory-based businesses is an advantage.
