ETL Developer – Ab Initio Migration

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced ETL Developer to join a 6-month project focused on migrating existing ETL processes and workflows from Ab Initio to a modern data integration platform.
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing existing Ab Initio jobs, understanding business and data transformation logic, developing equivalent ETL pipelines on the target platform, and ensuring data accuracy and performance throughout the migration process.
This role requires strong hands-on ETL development skills, SQL expertise, and the ability to understand and translate complex legacy ETL logic.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in ETL/Data Engineering development.
- Hands-on experience with Ab Initio is highly preferred.
- Experience working on ETL migration, modernization, or legacy ETL transformation projects.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, CTEs, stored procedures, and data validation.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data integration processes.
- Experience with one or more modern ETL/data integration tools
- Good understanding of relational databases and data warehouse concepts.
- Experience with source-to-target mapping and data transformation rules.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand complex legacy ETL logic and convert it into a new technical solution.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Able to work effectively in a project-based environment and meet migration deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience migrating Ab Initio to another ETL platform.
- Experience with large-scale data migration or ETL modernization projects.
- Experience working with high-volume enterprise data environments.
- Knowledge of Data Warehouse, Data Lake, or modern data platform architecture.
- Experience with batch processing and ETL scheduling.
- Experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
- Experience in banking, financial services, telecommunications, or other enterprise environments is a plus.
