Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business Administration, Economics, Transportation/Logistics, or Maritime
- Minimum 4–6 years of professional experience in the Port & Terminal, Maritime, Shipping, Logistics, or related industries.
- Preferably has at least 2 - 3 years of experience in a supervisory, assistant managerial, or managerial role within Commercial, Business Development, Sales, or Key Account Management.
- Good understanding of port and terminal business operations, including cargo handling, terminal services, Service Level Agreements (SLA), port/terminal tariffs, and coordination between Commercial and Operations functions.
- Experience or knowledge in one or more cargo or business segments, such as liquid bulk, dry bulk, breakbulk, Ro-Ro, and offshore services, will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of business development, market analysis, pricing, tender preparation, commercial proposal development, and contract negotiation.
- Able to perform basic commercial analysis covering revenue, pricing/tariffs, costs, margins, and customer profitability.
- Possess a relevant professional network within the Shipping, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Cargo Owner, Port & Terminal, or related industries.
- Good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in supervising or coordinating a Commercial team will be an advantage.
- Proficient in English both oral and written.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial & Business Development
Support Head of Commercial in implementing commercial and business development initiatives for liquid bulk, dry bulk, breakbulk, Ro-Ro, offshore, and other port and terminal services.
2. Revenue, Volume & Business Performance
- Support and drive the achievement of revenue, cargo volume, and business development targets within assigned customers, services, or business segments.
- Customer & Contract Management, Monitor pricing, margins, and customer performance to support sustainable business growth.
3. Customer & Contract Management
Manage relationships with key customers and support commercial proposal preparation, pricing discussions, tender processes, contract negotiations, and commercial partnership initiatives within the approved level of authority.
4. Operational Coordination & Service Delivery
Coordinate closely with the Operations Team and other relevant functions to ensure that service delivery is aligned with contractual commitments, Service Level Agreements (SLA), operational capabilities, and customer requirements.
5. Market Intelligence & Business Opportunities
Monitor market developments, customer requirements, competitor activities, and industry trends, and identify potential customers, business opportunities, and service development initiatives.
6. Commercial Performance Monitoring
Monitor revenue, cargo volume, pricing, commercial pipeline, customer performance, and business target achievement, and provide regular reports, analysis, and recommendations to the Head of Commercial.
7. Team Coordination & Governance
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Commercial Team and support the development of team members.
- Ensure that commercial activities are conducted in accordance with Company policies, contractual requirements, approved authority limits, and applicable regulations.
8. Deputy Support Function
Assist the Head of Commercial in the day-to-day management of commercial activities and act on behalf of the Head of Commercial when delegated, within the approved authority and Company policies.
