GENERAL FUNCTION:
As a C Engineer in the Telco Department, you will work in the rapidly evolving mobile telecommunications sector, interacting with state-of-the-art network components supporting voice, SMS, and modern mobile data services. You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance, carrier-grade software modules written in C/C++ that directly interface with live mobile telephony networks. Your work will support critical telecommunications functions and enable new features for international clients in the lawful interception domain. This role involves working closely with low-level network protocols, real-time processing systems, and performance-sensitive applications where efficiency, reliability, and scalability are essential.
In addition to C/C++ systems, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams working on products developed in Java, Python, and Node.js. Candidates with a strong foundation in C/C++ programming, system-level development, and a willingness to learn mobile telecommunications technologies will have the opportunity to grow and contribute to mission-critical telecom infrastructure within our Telco Development and Network teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design, develop, and maintain high-performance telecommunications systems, applications, modules, and software components using C/C++.
2. Develop and maintain software that interfaces directly with mobile network technology stacks including 2G, 3G, and 4G, and contribute to the development and integration of 5G technologies.
3. Implement and support core telecom functionalities including signaling, voice, SMS, data processing, and billing-related features.
4. Develop low-level, efficient, and reliable software components that interact with network protocols, real-time systems, and telecom infrastructure.
5. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable C/C++ code following best practices, coding standards, and performance optimization principles.
6. Participate in training programs to gain a comprehensive understanding of mobile telecommunications systems, protocols, and operational environments.
7. Collaborate closely with deployment and support teams to perform system integration, staging, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
8. Work closely with global engineering teams, including the 1rstWAP team in Dubai, to ensure proper coordination, integration, and successful project delivery.
9. Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects, system issues, and performance bottlenecks in development and production environments.
10. Support integration with telecom network elements and ensure system compatibility, stability, and performance.
11. Write and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
12. Participate in system testing, validation, and performance tuning to ensure reliability and scalability.
13. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams working with Java, Python, and Node.js systems to ensure seamless integration.
14. Continuously learn and apply telecommunications technologies, system architecture, and protocol standards relevant to project requirements.
15. Perform additional technical and operational tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support project and organizational objectives.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum Diploma (D3) or Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, with 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience.
2. Strong programming experience in C and/or C++, with good understanding of memory management, pointers, and system-level programming.
3. Experience with Python programming for scripting, automation, or supporting tools is required.
4. Experience developing multithreaded and concurrent applications, with understanding of synchronization, performance, and thread safety.
5. Strong analytical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
6. Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English in a professional and technical environment.
7. Willingness and ability to learn telecommunications technologies, protocols, and mobile network systems.
8. Experience working with Linux operating systems, including development, debugging, and system-level troubleshooting.
9. Understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, sockets, and client-server architecture is an advantage.
10. Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or similar database systems is an advantage.
11. Familiarity with debugging tools, performance profiling, and system monitoring tools is an advantage.
12. Experience working with version control systems such as Git is an advantage.
13. Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
14. Willingness and availability to join as soon as possible (ASAP).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :
1. Strong knowledge of C/C++ programming, including memory management, pointers, and performance optimization.
2. Knowledge of databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis, including basic query usage and data handling.
3. Experience with debugging and performance analysis tools such as GDB, Valgrind, or similar tools.
4. Strong object-oriented and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to design efficient and maintainable solutions.
5. Strong analytical thinking capabilities, with the ability to analyze complex technical systems and identify root causes of issues.
6. Ability to analyze operational and system requirements and translate them into appropriate software modules, functions, and system components.
7. Ability to design, implement, test, troubleshoot, and maintain complex multithreaded and distributed software systems.
8. Good knowledge of standard software algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization techniques.
9. Experience working with Linux operating systems, including development, debugging, and system troubleshooting.
10. Basic knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, sockets, and client-server communication.
11. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate closely with local and international teams from diverse cultural and technical backgrounds.
12. Strong communication skills for technical discussions and documentation.
13. Ability to work independently with strong ownership and responsibility.
14. Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and telecommunications domain knowledge.
15. Knowledge of mobile telecommunications technologies including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks is an advantage.
