A Banya Sauna Therapist is responsible for delivering authentic Russian Banya wellness experiences through heat therapy, steam rituals, body treatments, and guest care. The therapist ensures guests receive a safe, relaxing, rejuvenating, and traditional Banya session while maintaining the highest hospitality, hygiene, and wellness standards.
This role combines spa therapy skills, sauna operation knowledge, cultural ritual guidance, and personalized guest service.
Key Responsibilities :
Guest Experience & Treatment Delivery :
- Welcome guests warmly and explain the Banya Sauna experience and wellness benefits.
- Conduct traditional Banya rituals, including steam therapy, heat cycles, cooling treatments, and relaxation guidance.
- Perform Venik therapy (gentle body stimulation using birch/oak branches) according to authentic Russian tradition.
- Guide guests through contrast therapy:
- Hot steam room
- cold plunge
- cold shower
- rest cycle
- Offer body scrubs, salt rubs, herbal aromas, and recovery treatments.
- Monitor guest comfort and physical condition throughout the session.
Safety & Wellness Monitoring :
- Ensure sauna temperatures, humidity, and steam levels are safe and appropriate.
- Observe guests for signs of dehydration, dizziness, discomfort, or overheating.
- Explain contraindications (heart issues, pregnancy, blood pressure concerns, etc.).
- Maintain hydration stations, towels, and cooling supplies.
Operations & Facility Care :
- Prepare sauna rooms before each session.
- Clean and sanitize sauna areas, treatment rooms, plunge pools, showers, benches, and tools.
- Prepare venik bundles, herbal infusions, towels, robes, and guest amenities.
- Report maintenance issues immediately.
Customer Service :
- Build strong relationships with repeat guests and members.
- Educate guests on wellness benefits and aftercare.
- Upsell treatments, packages, memberships, and retail wellness products.
- Handle feedback professionally.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain treatment schedules and guest bookings.
- Record preferences, allergies, and health notes.
- Coordinate with reception, spa manager, and housekeeping.
Job Requirements :
Experience :
- Minimum 1–3 years experience in spa, sauna, wellness center, massage, hospitality, or related field.
- Experience with steam rooms, sauna operation, or body therapy preferred.
- Russian Banya experience is a strong advantage.
Skills :
- Excellent guest service and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of heat therapy and wellness practices.
- Ability to perform physical treatments (venik therapy, scrubs, guided rituals).
- Calm, professional, and attentive personality.
- Good stamina and comfort working in warm environments.
Education / Certification :
- Spa therapy / wellness / massage certification preferred.
- First Aid / CPR certification is an advantage.
- Sauna safety training preferred.
Language :
- Basic to fluent English.
- Russian language is a strong advantage.
- Additional languages are beneficial.

Working Conditions :
- Work in hot and humid environments. Approximately 70°C – 90°C.
- 15-35 Minutes /sessions.
