Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Closing Support (25%)
- Assist the Accounting & Finance Manager with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process:
- Prepare journal entries, expense allocations, and accruals for the Manager's review.
- Compile financial data, schedules, and workpapers needed for the monthly MIS and Financial Statements.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliation schedules, ensuring all items are documented and current.
- Maintain the closing schedule tracker and flag any items at risk of missing agreed timelines.
- Keep organized, audit-ready documentation throughout the year — supporting the Manager's goal of zero material audit adjustments.
- Assist with inter-company accounting entries and cross-border reporting data as directed.
2. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable — Core Ownership (20%)
- Own the AP/AR function as maker and recorder:
- Record invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and on time in Xero.
- Maintain an up-to-date AP/AR tracker and aging schedule; share weekly summaries with the Manager.
- Monitor upcoming due dates and send timely reminders to relevant stakeholders to avoid late payments or penalties.
- Prioritize payments based on urgency, vendor importance, and cash flow considerations.
- Negotiate with vendors for extended or more flexible payment schedules on select invoices when necessary.
- Reconcile AP/AR sub-ledgers against the General Ledger and resolve discrepancies promptly.
3. Lending Portfolio Accounting Support (15%)
- Support the Manager with recording and reconciliation of FLIN's lending portfolio:
- Assist with entering and reconciling loan disbursement and repayment entries in the accounting system.
- Help maintain accrued interest schedules, deferred fee records, and loan movement summaries under the Manager's guidance.
- Prepare data inputs for portfolio reconciliations between the Loan Management System (LMS), Metabase, and General Ledger.
- Flag discrepancies in loan balances, collections, and customer ledger entries for the Manager's review.
- Assist with write-off and recovery entries as instructed by the Manager.
- Note: Deep technical knowledge of IRR/EIR is not required at entry; however, a willingness to learn lending accounting concepts is essential.
4. Financial Controls & Reconciliation Support (15%)
- Support the Manager in maintaining robust reconciliation frameworks:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations across all FLIN Indonesia bank accounts and escalate unreconciled items immediately.
- Reconcile collections data against the customer ledger and flag discrepancies.
- Assist with General Ledger vs. sub-ledger reconciliations (AP, AR, payroll, tax).
- Maintain and update reconciliation workpapers to ensure no items remain unexplained beyond 30 days.
- Support development of automated reconciliation templates and checklists as the Manager drives process improvements.
5. Taxation (10%)
- Support monthly and annual Indonesian tax compliance under the Manager's direction:
- Assist with preparation and filing of monthly and annual tax obligations: PPN, PPh 21, PPh 23, PPh 25, and PPh 29.
- Ensure accurate tax documentation and timely submission to avoid penalties and interest charges.
- Maintain a tax filing calendar and remind the Manager of upcoming deadlines.
- Assist with tax reconciliations and respond to basic tax queries from internal or external parties.
- Coordinate with the external tax consultant by preparing data packages and gathering supporting documents as requested.
6. Treasury & Cash Flow Support (5%)
- Provide operational support to the Manager's treasury and FX reporting:
- Maintain the daily/weekly cash balance tracker across all bank accounts.
- Prepare cash flow inputs and payment run summaries for the Manager's cash flow forecasting.
- Assist with recording FX-related entries and multi-currency transactions in Xero as directed.
- Track funding utilization data and prepare disbursement schedules for management review.
7. Audit & Statutory Compliance Support (5%)
Assist the Manager in ensuring audit readiness throughout the year:
Prepare and organize supporting schedules, vouchers, and documentation for external audit requirements.
Respond to auditor data requests by providing accurate and complete documentation.
Support preparation of statutory filing data and OJK regulatory reporting as directed.
Maintain a compliance calendar for key audit and filing milestones.
8. Process Improvement & Reporting Support (5%)
Contribute to the Manager's drive to build a scalable, automated finance function:
Build and maintain simple trackers and dashboards for AP/AR aging, payment schedules, and cash positions.
Suggest improvements to manual processes — e.g., automating recurring reconciliations or standardizing data entry templates.
Assist in preparing data inputs for monthly MIS, investor reporting, and management dashboards.
Support the Manager with ad-hoc financial analysis, data gathering, and Excel modelling as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Brevet A/B tax certification is an advantage.
- Good command of English (mandatory. all interviews will be conducted in English).
- 1–3 years of full-time working experience in accounting, finance, or taxation. Internship experience does not count toward this requirement.
- Hands-on experience with AP/AR processes as maker/preparer is required.
- Experience with Indonesian taxation (monthly/annual tax filing: PPN, PPh) is highly valued.
- Experience in fintech, banking, lending, NBFC, or financial services is a strong advantage.
- Experience working in a structured close environment (month-end/year-end) is preferred.
- Experience with or supporting expatriate colleagues or multi-currency environments is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, bookkeeping, and Indonesian taxation.
- Comfortable managing AP/AR processes: invoicing, payment tracking, and GL reconciliation.
- Proficient in MS Excel — comfortable with vlookup, pivot tables, and reconciliation templates.
- Xero or similar cloud accounting software experience is required (FLIN's primary accounting system).
- Basic familiarity with Loan Management Systems or financial data systems is a plus.
- Good English communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaison with expatriate staff and foreign vendors.
