Accountant (Based in Batam)

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Lead the Finance Support team in processing supplier invoices, reconciling customer payments with internal reports, and maintaining other reporting schedules.

• Develop and coordinate training programs for new staff, identify ongoing training needs for existing team members, and oversee performance evaluations to ensure consistent team excellence.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage reconciliation activities conducted by the Finance Support team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Act as the primary point of contact for resolving issues raised by the Finance Support team, liaising with key departments such as the Finance team in Singapore, and the Operations and Commercial teams in Batam.

• Provide insights and recommendations to the Finance team in Singapore for improving work processes, systems, and policies.

• Establish and enforce robust internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions.

• Assist in preparing monthly accounting reports and closings to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or financial reporting standards (FRS).

• Manage ad hoc projects or duties as required, contributing to the broader goals of the finance department.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within teams across the organization and with external partners in multiple countries.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a team-oriented environment.

• Knowledge of Indonesian tax rules, statutory reporting requirements, procedures, and guidelines is an advantage.

• Proficiency in cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero or similar).

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel; experience with macros is a plus.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

• Minimum of five years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, with a proven track record in team leadership and process improvement.

Desirable Qualities

• Strong analytical skills to identify inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.

• Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while collaborating across functions.
