About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated Junior Sous Chef to support our kitchen brigade. Reporting to the Sous Chef, this hands-on role involves assisting with daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Support daily food production and ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality. Prepare dishes according to standard recipes and plating guidelines.
Assist the Sous Chef in supervising kitchen staff and daily operations.
Oversee specific stations during service and ensure smooth kitchen workflow.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards (HACCP or equivalent).
Monitor proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients (FIFO).
Help train commis and junior kitchen staff.
Promote a culture of learning, discipline, and teamwork in the kitchen.
Assist in inventory checks and controlling food wastage.
Provide input on ordering ingredients and managing kitchen supplies.
Coordinate with service staff to ensure timely food delivery.
Communicate clearly with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef regarding kitchen needs and issues.
Requirements:
Proven experience (2–4 years) in a professional kitchen, preferably in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
Formal culinary training/certification is a plus.
Familiar with food safety standards and kitchen hygiene protocols.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Basic computer skills (for recipe management or stock tracking) is a plus.
