Job description for Senior Engineer Naval Architecture at BW Offshore Singapore
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform Naval Architecture engineering for FPSO Hull across Concept, Pre‑FEED, FEED, Execution, and Operation stages
- Ensure all naval architecture decisions support safety, operability, maintainability, and compliance with regulations
- Develop hull design basis, naval architecture design philosophy and standards
- Provide guidance, management, oversight, and technical support to shipyards and engineering companies
- Develop and review key naval architecture deliverables, including stability analysis, motion analysis, green water assessments, mooring & riser interface evaluations, and global performance studies
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers
- Support CAPEX estimation, construction schedule development, and project risk assessments
- Make balanced technical decisions considering quality, cost, schedule, constructability and interface with topside, turret, mooring and riser
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or relevant engineering discipline
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Naval Architecture for FPSOs, offshore structures, or shipbuilding
- Strong experience in basic design, stability, hydrodynamics, weight estimation, hull global performance
- Experience working with both shipyard and FPSO contractor environments preferred
- Strong preference for experience in bid & proposal, Pre‑FEED, FEED, and CAPEX estimation
- Strong preference for experience in both New-building and Conversion projects
Skills:
- Strong communication and coordination skills across multidiscipline teams
- Effective stakeholder management across Clients, shipyards, internal teams and suppliers
- Ability to work independently while supporting and collaborating with broader project teams
- Solid understanding of FPSO design principles and industry practices, Class rules and international standards (ABS, DNV, IMO, etc.)
- Understanding of hydrodynamics, stability regulations, vessel operation, and marine risk principles
- Familiarity with construction methods, commissioning, and offshore integration
- Proficiency in naval architectural software for stability, hydrodynamic analysis, mooring analysis, and global performance, such as DNV Sesam, GeniE, HydroD, OrcaFlex, MOSES, ABS Eagle FPSO
