About the Company
The Sustainable Finance Institute Asia (SFIA) is an independent institute established to catalyse ideas on sustainable finance at the policy level, as well as propel action in support of those policy ideas in Asia, particularly in ASEAN. We are looking for a Manager/Senior Associate with strong written and spoken language skills, positive attitude, critical thinking aptitude, organisational skills and research and analytical capabilities.
The Manager/Senior Associate will collaborate closely with the broader SFIA team to deliver unbiased, credible policy recommendations and implementation support to countries in the region, particularly ASEAN Member States. Given this, it is crucial for the Manager/Senior Associate to be able to think strategically, have the ability to perform in-depth research and synthesise the findings in a precise, concise and timely manner. In this context, the role requires staying well-informed on regional developments in sustainable finance and managing multiple tasks to support the delivery of the sustainability agenda. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is very responsive, proactive and can collaborate effectively within a team while also working independently to meet deliverables. Strong coordination skills and technical knowledge are essential, or at a minimum, the ability to quickly build technical competencies through mentorship and self-learning.
About the Role
The responsibilities of the Manager/Senior Associate include but are not limited to:
Managing requirements from senior-level ASEAN regulators for the development of various projects.
Conducting research and analysis to capture information and salient points on specific sustainable finance or ESG-related issues, particularly in the ASEAN region.
Preparing deliverables including reports, meeting minutes, presentations and board papers.
Coordinating and supporting the management of projects, including monitoring timelines, preparing fundraising materials, administrative support and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
Leading and contributing to the development of SFIA's technical acumen and capabilities.
Providing cross-team support as requested.
Attributes of the Candidate
The ideal Manager/Senior Associate will have the following:
Minimum of 5-8 years relevant work experience, with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Finance, Accountancy, Banking, Communications, Sustainable Finance, Energy/Climate Policy, Climate Finance, Business, Commerce, or other related areas.
Native-level proficiency in English.
Strong organisational skills, research, writing and analytical capabilities, with a high level of attention to detail.
Diplomatic and measured.
Able to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong ability to handle multiple workstreams while prioritising deadlines.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Previous exposure to sustainable finance, climate change, sustainability or other ESG-related matters is an advantage.
