Position: HDD Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HDD Manager who shall be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and management of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and successful delivery of projects in accordance with technical, regulatory, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, plan and manage all HDD project activities from planning through execution and project close-out.
Develop drilling methodologies, execution plans, and construction sequences.
Oversee project scheduling, resource allocation, and cost control.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, authorities, and regulatory bodies.
Ensure full compliance with QHSE standards, environmental requirements, and marine/offshore regulations.
Perform Desk Top Study, feasibility and burial assessment studies from design concept to final implementation, including drafting and finalizing of DTS proposals and final reports.
Review and approve drilling profiles, method statements, and risk assessments.
Supervise mobilisation of HDD spreads, marine support vessels, and associated equipment.
Monitor daily drilling progress and resolve technical, operational, and site issues.
Conduct site inspections and ensure quality assurance/control of HDD works.
Lead troubleshooting for complex ground conditions and offshore interface challenges.
Prepare project progress reports and present updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Ensure effective integration between HDD works, marine operations, and cable installation activities.
Responsible for maintenance of all HDD equipment.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Petroleum, or related discipline).
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in HDD or trenchless technology projects.
Proven track record in managing large-scale HDD projects, preferably in subsea, offshore, or coastal environments.
Strong technical knowledge of HDD systems, drilling fluids, and geotechnical interpretation.
Experience in subsea cable installation or marine HDD works.
Familiarity with HDD permitting process including submissions, consultations and compliance with local regulations. Knowledge of cableship operations and cable landing works.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.
Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams across marine and civil interfaces.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management capabilities.
Proficiency in project planning tools and reporting systems.
