The Vehicular Emissions Branch (VEB) is responsible for regulating and enforcing against emissions from vehicles and Off-Road Diesel Engines (ORDE). It also develops pollution control operation policies and manages public feedback on vehicular emissions.
[What the role is]
You will design, plan and work with the team to implement initiatives to minimise pollution from vehicles and ORDEs, and enhance enforcement capabilities against errant motorists who contravene the Environmental Protection & Management (Vehicular Emissions) and (Off-Road Diesel Engines) Regulations. You will also design and implement stakeholder engagement strategies and public outreach programmes to promote awareness and compliance with the regulations.
[What you will be working on]
Your primary duties will include the following:
Conduct technical assessments for applications to register on-road vehicles and off-road diesel engines, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
Lead development initiatives with solution providers to identify, evaluate and implement technologies that enhance operational effectiveness and advance the control of emissions from vehicles and ORDEs.
Handle complex public feedback on pollutive vehicles within NEA’s service standard, including mobilising officers to conduct necessary surveillance and take enforcement action against errant motorists.
Lead comprehensive reviews of work instructions, standards operating procedures, policies and initiatives to control emissions from vehicles and ORDEs.
Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies; working with vehicle fleet operators and vehicle inspection centres, and educational programmes to raise awareness and promote regulatory adherence.
Participate in enforcement operations and work with other agencies on blitz against pollutive vehicles.

Candidates are required to have physical stamina to perform enforcement operations and enforcement duties.
