Job description for Shadow Teacher at Atelier of Minds
About the Role
We are looking for a Shadow Teacher to provide 1:1 support for a primary school student during the school day in Jakarta.
You will work closely with and report to the Lead Psychologist at Atelier of Minds, implementing the child's Individualised Learning Plan (ILP) and agreed strategies consistently in the school environment. The goal is to help the child participate successfully at school while gradually building greater independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Accompany and support the child throughout the school day.
- Implement the child's ILP and strategies developed by Atelier of Minds' Lead Psychologist.
- Support classroom participation, routines, transitions, attention, and task completion.
- Help the child develop emotional regulation, positive behaviour, communication, and social skills.
- Encourage independence and gradually reduce support where appropriate.
- Observe and document progress, challenges, behaviours, and relevant incidents.
- Provide regular updates to the Lead Psychologist and participate in progress discussions.
- Coordinate professionally with the child's teachers, school, parents, and Atelier of Minds team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
- Experience working with primary-school-aged children, ideally including neurodivergent children.
- Good understanding of child development, behaviour, emotional regulation, and inclusive education.
- Knowledge or practical experience with CBT-based techniques is highly preferred.
- Patient, observant, reliable, and able to remain calm when supporting a child through challenging situations.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Willing to work on-site at the child's primary school in Jakarta.
