Job description for Sales at PT. Furnindo Utama Asia

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're hiring our first salesperson. Not adding someone to an existing team, building the sales function from scratch.

Furnindo is a furniture manufacturer. We make both a standard product range and fully custom pieces for commercial and residential clients. We have a factory with structured production systems, professional drafting, and an ERP that tracks everything from SO to delivery. What we don't have is someone who owns the commercial side. That's the gap, and that's this role.

You'll build two things at once: a sales channel for our standard range (dealers, direct accounts, or whatever approach works, we haven't locked that in, because it's your job to figure it out) and a project pipeline for custom work (interior designers, developers, hospitality, corporate fit-outs). Both tracks start at zero. You report directly to the Director.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

Standard product sales:

▸ Develop the go-to-market strategy for our standard furniture range. Evaluate channels, dealers, distributors, direct, online and present a plan within your first 90 days.

▸ Open and manage sales channels. If that means onboarding dealers, you negotiate terms and train them on the product. If it's direct sales, you build the prospect list and close the deals yourself.

▸ Track what's selling and what isn't. Recommend range adjustments, pricing changes, and promotional approaches based on real data, not guesswork.

Custom/project sales:

▸ Find and qualify clients for bespoke furniture projects, interior designers, developers, hospitality groups, corporate fit-outs, high-end residential.

▸ Run the full sales cycle: first meeting, brief-taking, site visits, quote coordination with our Estimator, negotiation, close. You own the relationship from handshake to delivery.

▸ Hand confirmed orders to Production Admin for SO creation. You stay involved through production, especially on complex projects, but the factory team owns execution.

Across both tracks:

▸ Manage client expectations on delivery, pricing, and capability. You sell what we can actually make, on timelines we can actually hit.

▸ Report to the Director weekly: pipeline, orders, channel performance, revenue forecast. You track your own numbers; nobody does it for you.

WHY THIS ROLE IS WORTH YOUR ATTENTION

▸ You're building the commercial engine, not inheriting one. No existing pipeline, no established channel, no playbook. You create all of it.

▸ Two sales tracks keep things interesting. Standard product gives you volume and repeat business. Custom projects give you complexity and higher-value deals. You won't get bored doing just one thing.

▸ Direct line to the owner. You report to the Director. Pricing decisions, channel strategy, account priorities, one conversation, not a chain of approvals.

▸ Real manufacturing behind you. We're not a broker or a marketplace. We have a factory, a drafting team, structured QC, and an ERP system. When you sell something, we make it.

▸ Growth path is open. If you perform, you shape the commercial side of the company, whether that means building a sales team or staying on the biggest accounts.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

Must-haves:

▸ 3+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally in furniture, interiors, building materials, or a related industry.

▸ Experience with both product/catalogue selling and project-based selling. We need someone who can do volume and complexity.

▸ Track record of building something from scratch, a new channel, a new market, a new territory. Not just managing an inherited book of business.

▸ Strong communication skills, written proposals, in-person presentations, and the ability to have honest conversations when timelines or specs need to change.

▸ A basic understanding of how furniture gets made: materials, finishes, production timelines.

▸ Own transport and willingness to go to client sites and dealer locations.

Nice-to-haves:

▸ Experience setting up dealer or distributor networks.

▸ Existing relationships in interior design, property development, hospitality, or retail furniture sectors.

▸ Experience with ERP systems (we use Odoo).

▸ Ability to read basic furniture drawings.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

Transparency up front saves everyone time:

▸ Not an order-taking position. We don't have inbound leads waiting for you. You build the pipeline and the channels.

▸ Not a solo show. You coordinate with the Estimator for custom pricing, Production Admin for order entry, and PPIC for scheduling. People who skip internal process don't last.

▸ Not a promise-anything-to-close culture. You sell within our margin floor, you commit delivery dates only after checking with production, and you protect the company's ability to deliver.

INTERESTED?

Send a message or apply directly.

Tell us two things:

(1) a time you built a sales channel or market from scratch, what you did and what happened,

(2) how you'd approach selling both standard products and custom projects without one cannibalizing the other.

We care more about how you think than how you format a CV.
