Job description for Safety Officer at PT Mintex Teknik Dan Peralatan Mesin
PT Mintex Teknik dan Peralatan Mesin (Mintex) is an Indonesian engineering and mining equipment company and a subsidiary of Yantai Jinpeng Mining Machinery Co., Ltd. We provide engineering, procurement, construction, and mining equipment solutions for mineral processing and mining projects.
We are currently looking for a Safety Officer to join our project team in Eritrea, East Africa.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards.
- Monitor workers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Conduct Toolbox Meetings, Safety Inductions, and Safety Briefings.
- Monitor high-risk activities and ensure proper Permit to Work (PTW) implementation.
- Report and assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Exercise Stop Work Authority when necessary and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Safety/HSE, preferably in mining, construction, EPC, or industrial projects.
- Experience in site safety supervision and high-risk activities is highly preferred.
- Good knowledge of PPE, PTW, Toolbox Meetings, Working at Height, Lifting Operations, Hot Work, Confined Space, and Emergency Response.
- Safety certifications such as K3, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
- Good command of English, both written and verbal.
- Willing and physically prepared to be stationed in Eritrea for the duration of the project.
- Able to work independently in a remote and multicultural project environment.
