Job description for Robotics & Coding Mentor at Pt Vortex Buana Edumedia

Scope of Work:

The mentor is responsible for carrying out the teaching and mentoring process for students from elementary (SD) through high school (SMA) level in a program designed to develop technology skills and creative programming, in accordance with the curriculum prepared by the Program Organizer. This program is delivered through two schemes: online and offline. The scope of the mentor's duties is as follows:

A. Teaching and Mentoring Activities

  • Deliver learning materials in accordance with the curriculum prepared by the Program Organizer.
  • Deliver instruction fully in English.
  • Teach and facilitate learning sessions using a project-based learning approach and educational games.
  • Guide participants in understanding logic concepts and computational thinking (CT) for children.
  • Proficiency in Scratch and Scratch Jr will be considered an added value.
  • Provide technical and creative guidance in creating coding-based projects according to the platforms above.
  • Correct students' assignments, provide targeted feedback, and ensure that each participant receives personalized support, as well as create progress reports for participants.
  • Monitor students' attendance, progress, and engagement on a regular basis.
  • Report on the implementation of activities and participants' development to the Program Organizer periodically.
  • Conduct formative and summative evaluations in accordance with the standards set by the Program Organizer.
  • Conduct 1-on-1 sessions with parents if requested by the Program Organizer.

B. Offline Scheme

  • The mentor delivers learning face-to-face (offline) at a designated location, under the following conditions:
  • Deliver instruction directly in the classroom.
  • Maintain active communication with participants, the school, and parents regarding the child's development.
  • Ensure the readiness of the physical room, equipment, and teaching materials before the class is conducted.

Deliverables:

  • Consistent attendance in every (offline) class session, delivered fully in English.
  • Feedback on students' assignments.
  • Evaluation summaries, session documentation, and reports when requested by the Program Organizer.

Additional Rights and Obligations:

  • The Program Organizer has the right to conduct periodic evaluations of the mentor's performance.
  • Absences must be reported at least 24 hours in advance, and where possible, the mentor is obliged to find a substitute.
  • The Program Organizer has the right to terminate the cooperation if the mentor is proven to have violated commitments, professional ethics, or failed to fulfill responsibilities as set out in the SOW.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum D4/S1 degree in Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) or relevant experience.
  • Able to deliver teaching in English.
  • Comfortable working with young children.
  • Owns a laptop with minimum specifications of Core i3 Gen 8/Ryzen 3, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and Windows 10/11 64-bit.
  • (Added value) Proficient in Scratch or Scratch Jr.
  • Willing to teach under the offline delivery scheme.
  • Must include an Arduino project portfolio.

Teaching and Mentoring:

  • Deliver learning materials in accordance with the curriculum prepared by the Program Organizer.
  • Teach and facilitate learning sessions using project-based learning methods and educational games.
  • Guide participants in understanding logic concepts and basic programming through hands-on practice in class.
  • Provide technical and creative guidance, as well as assessment, in creating coding-based projects.
  • Correct students' assignments and provide targeted feedback.
  • Prepare participant progress reports and monitor students' attendance and engagement on a regular basis.
  • Conduct formative and summative evaluations in accordance with program standards.
  • Conduct 1-on-1 sessions with participants' parents when requested by the organizer.
