Job description for on-page SEO website specialist at PT. Sepeda Motor Indonesia

We are hiring an SEO On-Page Specialist to take ownership of on-page optimization across our client websites within our digital marketing agency, Gaia Digital Agency. This role sits at the point where SEO meets the website itself, and it suits someone who is comfortable working inside a CMS and understands how a web page is actually built.

This is a full-time on-site position based in Ubud, Bali. Relocation to Ubud is required, as this role relies on direct collaboration and ongoing coordination between teams. English is our working language so good English is mandatory.

Your role is to improve the search visibility of our client websites through the disciplined execution of on-page SEO. You will audit existing pages, identify what is holding them back, implement improvements directly in the CMS, and work with our developers when changes need to happen at template or code level.

You will be responsible for the full on-page skillset. This includes title tags and meta descriptions, heading hierarchy, keyword mapping across pages, search intent alignment, content optimization and refreshing, internal linking structure, URL structure, image optimization including alt text, file naming, compression and modern formats, structured data and schema markup, canonical tags, and identifying and resolving keyword cannibalization.

You will also be responsible for on-page factors that affect page experience, including Core Web Vitals, page speed, mobile usability, and crawlability at page level. You are not expected to be a backend engineer, but you are expected to diagnose these issues accurately and know whether you can fix them yourself or need to escalate to a developer.

Web development knowledge is required for this role. You should be comfortable reading and editing HTML, understand how CSS affects rendering, know how JavaScript can affect indexing and how client-side rendering differs from server-side rendering, and be able to work confidently inside page templates. You do not need to be a developer, but you must be able to hold a technical conversation with one and understand what is and is not feasible.

Hands-on CMS knowledge is essential. Strong WordPress experience is required, including working with page builders such as Elementor and Gutenberg, theme and template structures, and SEO plugins such as Yoast or Rank Math. Shopify experience is highly valuable, including product and collection page optimization, Shopify SEO apps, and an understanding of the platform's URL and duplicate content behaviour. Familiarity with other platforms such as Webflow, Squarespace, or Wix is a plus, as is exposure to modern frameworks and headless setups such as Next.js, Astro, or a headless CMS, since a growing portion of our client work is built this way.

You will work across multiple client accounts from different industries, supporting the team by identifying opportunities, improving website performance, and helping the agency deliver measurable growth through organic search.

You will collaborate closely with our web development team to implement technical on-page changes, with our content and SEO writers to ensure pages are optimized correctly before and after publishing, and with account and project managers to keep work moving on schedule.

Experience with SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Screaming Frog, PageSpeed Insights, or similar platforms is necessary. Knowledge to utilize AI tools for your productivity is a must, as our workflows increasingly rely on them.

Experience with AI coding agents is a strong advantage. Tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot are genuinely useful in this role for making bulk edits across templates, generating and validating schema markup, writing small scripts to audit pages or build redirect maps, and handling implementation work that would otherwise sit waiting in the developer queue. If you can use these tools to ship on-page fixes yourself instead of filing a ticket and waiting, you will be considerably more effective here. We also expect judgment alongside the speed, which means working in staging, reviewing what the agent has actually changed, and never pushing unchecked changes to a live client site.

You should be comfortable documenting your work clearly, producing on-page audits that other people can act on, and explaining your recommendations in terms a non-technical client can follow.

If you are someone who enjoys pulling apart a page to work out why it is underperforming, likes fixing things properly rather than superficially, and gets satisfaction from watching a page climb after your changes go live, this role is for you.

Previous experience in on-page SEO, technical SEO, or web development with an SEO focus is preferred. You should have strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work with data and research.

A strong portfolio, case study, or example of your SEO work will be highly valued. Please include at least one example of a page or website you optimized, describing what the problem was, what you changed, and what the result was.
