Job description for Mandarin-Speaking R&D Manager – Cosmetic & Personal Care at GaliniSheetify
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead research and innovation of personal care formulations from concept to production-ready formulas, identifying breakthrough opportunities through raw material trends, consumer insights, and active ingredients, with a focus on original formulation design.
- Oversee end-to-end product development and scale-up, from lab trials and formula optimization to stability testing and mass production.
- Develop and formulate high-performance products across skincare, haircare, and body care categories.
- Evaluate, test, and recommend new raw materials and active ingredients, leveraging knowledge of Asian ingredient supply chains and supplier networks.
- Build and lead the R&D formulation team, establishing R&D roadmaps, testing protocols, and project timelines.
- Ensure formulations comply with BPOM and international cosmetic safety standards, maintaining technical documentation, formula master files, and stability records.
- Collaborate with the Innovation Director, Owner, Marketing, Production, and QA/QC teams to align R&D output with brand vision, cost targets, and manufacturing capabilities.
Requirement :
- Minimum 7–10 years of hands-on experience in personal care product formulation within cosmetic manufacturing environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetology, or Chemical Engineering.
- Proven experience leading an R&D formulation team or building an R&D unit at a managerial level
- Familiarity with Asian personal care raw material supply chains and regional cosmetic safety standards, including NMPA/CFDA and/or BPOM Indonesia
- Deep technical expertise in emulsion technology, surfactant chemistry, active ingredient incorporation, accelerated/real-time stability testing, and factory scale-up routines.
- Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English is mandatory. Candidates must be able to communicate professionally in both languages.
